Gospel musician Gifty Osei has publicly denied a post on her Facebook wall which seems to suggest that she was likening herself to Beyoncé Knowles.
A picture of the gospel singer, which had the caption “Ghana Beyoncé Empress one,” went viral on social media over the weekend.
But the singer was quick to state that she had no idea of the post, adding that her name “has not changed.”
“I didn’t post the picture. Some people hacked into my account some time ago so I changed my password but I did not post the picture, let alone add the Ghana Beyoncé caption. I want my fans to know that I am still Gifty Osei and not Ghana’s Beyoncé,” the singer stated on NEAT FM’s Entertainment Ghana.
According to the onetime Gospel Artiste of the Year, the name ‘Osei’ belongs to her husband and there was no way she would trade it for another.
“My management team is the administrator of my account and as it stands now, I haven’t been able to reach them yet. We will get to the bottom of this,” she added.
Some of her fans posted angry comments such as, “How can a gospel musician liken herself to a secular musician?” on her wall.
Meanwhile, her management has admitted that the picture was taken by a member of the team who posted it on his account and later shared it on the singer’s wall with the comment.
But checks by NEWS-ONE revealed that the said picture was not tagged to the singer but rather uploaded straight from the singer’s account.
