Government is not funding GMX music streaming platform – Director of Marketing

Akisi Ackah, GMX Multimedia’s Director of Marketing and Communications, clarified that Ghana’s government is not funding the GMX music streaming platform but is providing regulatory support through the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture.

Speaking on Hitz FM, she explained that this partnership aids the platform in addressing industry issues like piracy, with collaboration involving GHAMRO (Ghana Music Rights Organization).

While government funds are designated for the GHAMRO music-monitoring component within GMX, Ackah emphasized that this support differs from the main streaming platform's expenses.

The GMX platform, launching in January 2025, aims to support Ghana's music industry.
