Nose piercing among other forms of facial piercing ( Lip, tongue, eyebrows, along the ear lobe etc) popular in the United States of America, UK, Canada, the Caribbean, Australia, and Europe is fast becoming trendy among Ghanaian youths.

Historically, nose piercing which is the second most common piercing after the earlobe piercing was practiced in India, Pakistan, Nepal and throughout South Asia. It was also part of traditional Australian Aboriginal culture.

Regardless of who a person is, getting a nose piercing stereotype's one in Ghanaian society and it’s hardly accepted in corporate environments and by most families.

According to health experts, they are riskier than the usual earlobe piercings as the inner surface of the nose (which can't be disinfected) holds bacteria that can cause infection despite its aesthetic value.

Interestingly, young people have thrown decorum to the wind to wear nose piercings in insanely fashionable ways including magnetic options that can be worn without actually piercing through the skin.

Albeit fans of this trend link their interest to fashion indicating that it enhances their beauty, others say, it is simply a ‘No-No’.
