Afro-pop artiste, Stonebwoy has disclosed that he composed ‘Biegya’ but gave it to Criss Waddle because he was sure the latter will do well on the song.
The Zylofon-signed artiste in answering a question as to whether or not he considers “spiritual feeling” before releasing a song responded in the affirmative and cited ‘Biegya’ as one of the songs he composed but refused to own it.
“I definitely do that assessment. I have had a number of songs that after getting the creative idea, I realize that it is beautiful but I can’t churn that out. A song like ‘Biegya’, I felt I’m not the one to churn out so I was like, ‘Waddle, why not take this song so I’ll be the one to feature on it?’ I wrote the song. I didn’t mean to say this but it’s because you’ve asked me that’s why this issue is out. I have written a couple of songs for some people. Sometimes, you tune it around a little to suit what you stand for,” he said on Zylofon FM’s ‘Showbiz Agenda’, Thursday.
The ‘Biegya’ controversy
About a year ago, Shatta Wale and Criss Waddle engaged in a heated feud after the latter accused the former of stealing his song, ‘Biegya’, abrantepa.com recalls.
Criss Waddle alleged that he was the first to have recorded a song with that title only for Shatta to ‘outsmart’ him. He further accused the dancehall artiste of using sorcery to stop the shine of other artistes he cannot compete with.
“This your smart di3 Adjoa smart oooo ?#?Bie? Gya (Open Fire) with Stonebwoy Coming out tonight,” Criss Waddle wrote on Facebook but the response from Shatta Wale suggested that Waddle was not the creator of the term. Few days later, Shatta Wale shot a music video for his version of "Bie Gya". It was shot in a studio set up and starred the top Shatta Movement Family team members including, Achipalago.
The famous ‘Adldas’ cannot be forgotten as Shatta Wale was subjected to ridicule for wearing a fake ‘Adidas’ apparel in the video while Criss Waddle was hailed for shooting a video estimated to have cost $20,000. The rivalry continued with both artistes releasing songs targeted at each other.
