Kumawood actor Oteele, born Stephen Yaw Mawunyo, initially aspired to be a medical doctor.

In an interview, he revealed he dropped out of school during JSS, refusing to take the BECE exam.

He later started selling CDs in Kumasi, which led him to pursue acting.
