Rapper Sarkodie has revealed that he has never charged any of his friends in the music industry for a collaboration.
In an interview with Andy Dosty on Daybreak Hitz on Hitz FM, Sarkodie reacting to criticism about his criteria for collaboration with others noted that a lot of factors come to play. Hitz FM recorded!
According to him, he sometimes records features without even knowing the name of the artiste.
“…I have never charged any of my friends for a feature. Never! I’m talking about the people that you know as my friends. I mean Shatta Wale, R2Bees, Stonebwoy and the rest. I don’t think any of them will do that to their friends as well….,” he told Andy Dosty.
Asked about his features with Nigerian artistes, Sarkodie said most of them are strategic.
He stressed that the collaborations were strategic schemes aimed at tap into their market and also add up to his fan base.
“…Most of them were strategic. It’s not really about money but it’s more of a strategic move to tap into numbers…,” he noted.
Sarkodie has featured on the songs of various artistes; both underground and mainstream.
The likes of Shatta Wale, Stonebwoy, Samini, Medikal, Kwesi Arthur and Jetey have all recorded collabos with the award-winning rapper.
