Ghanaian Gospel musician Gifty Osei also known in showbiz as Empress One has disclosed that she has never received royalties from the Ghana Music Right Organisation (GHAMRO).
The “Aseda” hitmaker told Kojo Preko Dankwa, host of K-Entertainment on Kasapa 102.5FM that she is a registered member of GHAMRO but had never received a pesewa from them.
“I have never received royalties from GHAMRO but I am a member of the organisation. I’ve registered all my songs.” Gifty Osei.
Some musicians who have registered with the organisation have also shared same concern. Dancehall artiste, Shatta Wale recently composed a song to express his disappointment in GHAMRO for the many years he is registered with organisation yet had never received any notification prompting him of his royalties paid into his account.
Gifty Osei also noted that the organisation needs a proper structure with regards to logging system and good policies to attract more musicians to join.
Empress One is currently promoting her latest ‘Adom’ music video. The classic video which was directed by Kofi Okyeame costs $500 according to her.
