Nigerian star actress, Rita Dominic, has opened up on why she is still single after over four decades of existence.
In an interview, the 42-year-old said she was still single because her past relationships failed.
Speaking to a Nigerian entertainment magazine, she said could have been married long ago if things had worked in her favour.
Rita's singleness has, for years, been the subject of intense speculation in the media, with many questioning why the successful celebrity had failed to settle down.
The actress acknowledged that the societal pressures for her to get married sometimes worried her. But she said she would commit to marriage on her own terms, and not because society wanted her to.
“I will live with the man, so it is very important that I do it because I want to, not because society wants it for me,” she said.
The actress expressed hope that she would marry soon, saying: “I believe that God is in charge of my life and will present the right man to me at the right time.” She said that she was dating but hoped to meet someone soon.
“I do date when someone special comes around. “I love being totally drawn to someone and doing all those loving things couples do, but I am also wary of liars and bullies," she said.
Rita is one of the most popular actresses in Africa. She has starred in scores of movies, including Yahoo Millionaire, The Next Election, Lean on Me, Love You Forever, The Intruder, Working Class Lady and The Faithful.
She is a graduate of the University of Port Harcourt, where she majored in Theatre Arts. The light-skinned beauty has won several awards, including Best Actress in a Drama/TV Series at the 2017 Africa Magic Viewers Choice Awards.
