Lover Boy Shakes It down

ERNEST Nana Acheampong, the ‘Champion Lover Boy’ is a complete showboy, no question. He has been labelled with all the adjectives that go for artistes who take it to the extreme — provocative; sexy; risqu?; tempting..name it. Yet the highlife showboy is one who knows no stopping!

The newly released video clip to promote his hit track Hine Me is one meant only for the daring.

The Champion Lover Boy goes all out in hot and steamy shots that show all that the curious viewer would want to see; and all that the conservative would definitely want to avoid. The video shows Nana shaking it down with passionate female dancers strapped in the kind of clothes meant to leave only little to the imagination, and responding to Nana’s “..Dig it dig it dig it down there..” in ways that leave the mouth gaping.

In all his 12 albums, Nana Acheampong’s approach to love has been quite sensual, and his videos, like his latest, display sizzling scenes — champagne in the bathtub, and all. The lyrics of Hine Me tell the story of one asking his love to open the door for him because he has arrived with the love thing. His passion is known to be at a different level altogether, and being one of the country's veteran musicians, Nana exhibits a style that continues to appeal to a good number of music enthusiasts.

His latest CD, Size Bum follows in the steps of his 2002 sensational album XXL and is not far from what has become known as Nana's style — typical highlife with disco beats and lots of keyboard frills.Nana's messages, although touching on a variety of subjects such as relationships and socio economic issues, have mostly been based on love-related issues. Size Bum features Sydney whose Apuskeleke song, like Nana’s Hine Me, was lashed at by conservatives for being rather explicit in lyrics.

Hailing from Abuakwa in the Ashanti Region, Nana Acheampong was born on May 22 1967 in Kumasi. His started school at Konadu Yiadom Primary School and Bantama Block B1 Middle School, and moved to Kumasi Technical Institute to pursue a high school technical diploma. He dropped out because his parents could not afford it, but decided to pursue a career in music, having once led his local school Marching Band.

1991 marked the beginning of his now phenomenal record in the music industry with the release of Eye Odo Nkoaa, which was followed by Maye Papa Na Manya Aye in 1992, Odo Nfitiase in 1993, and others like Huhuhuhu Enye Mehu, Hwe Nea Okyere, Simeso, XXL, and the current Size Bum.

Ernest Nana Acheampong is married to Claudia is the father of Leroy and Morris.
