"Men suck!"; but will Yvonne Nelson ever hook up?

Actress Yvonne Nelson is not only good for the screens and red carpet events but also at attracting controversy, and she has done it again by saying she is still single because “a lot of men suck!”.

Although she has given reasons why she has always been single, will she ever hook up in a relationship?

Well, Yvonne, in a chat with Peace Hyde on GHOne TV, once again insisted that she is single and that though she has a crush on actor John Dumelo in the past, they did not date.

“He (John Dumelo) was my first crush when I first joined the industry, but we are now friends, not just friends but best of friends now, and he has a girlfriend somewhere,” Yvonne revealed in response to a question on whether she had ever had a crush on an industry person.

This is not the first time Yvonne Nelson is saying she is single, and it is even difficult to believe her because of her not-too-distant-past history with Nigerian singer Iyanya.

Until the Nigerian musician went public that he was dating Yvonne but had dumped her and moved on with his life, she continued to tell the Ghanaian media she was single, no matter how many times she was asked the question.

After Iyanya’s revelation however, Yvonne admitted in what seemed like a sympathy-seeking interview with Delores Frimpong Manso that she was dating the Nigerian singer and that she felt “used” by him.

The actress accused Iyanya of pretending to have fallen in love with her only because he wanted to use her name to climb to fame and once he achieved that mission, and he dumped her.

Yvonne said the ‘Iyanya experience’ taught her a bitter lesson and she now ‘pities’ any lady she sees dating a celebrity.

The same Yvonne Nelson, in 2010, generated the most controversy in showbiz circles when she denied the five different male celebrities she was reported to have dated.

Earlier reports stated that she was head over heels in love, and in a relationship with soccer star Derrick Boateng; and just when Ghanaians thought the report was a truism, Yvonne Nelson made a quick claim that she and Derrick were just close pals. "There was nothing erotic between us."

Right after the deny of her relationship with the footballer, the name of musician-cum-TV show host, Jon Germain popped up.

Jon was reported to have confirmed that indeed he had something to do with Yvonne and once again just when the report was sinking in, she denied having anything to do with Jon. Till date, it is not certain whether it was Jon or Yvonne who was speaking the truth.

Yvonne again was linked to ace musician Sarkodie, but she said the only thing she had in common with Sarkodie was that he helped her in her campaign to raise funds to create awareness on Glaucoma.

The same Yvonne has also denied dating Samini, and the whole episode raises doubts as to why she has been linked to so many guys.

Never before has a single Ghanaian actress been reported to have dated a footballer and four musicians yet she says it is all ‘rubbish’ even when two of the musicians have come out to say the reports are true.
