R. Kelly petitions Supreme Court to throw out sex crime convictions

R. Kelly, serving a 30-year prison term, has petitioned the U.S. Supreme Court to overturn his federal sex crimes convictions.

His lawyer argues that his Chicago conviction for child pornography and enticing minors is barred by the statute of limitations, as it predates the PROTECT Act’s indefinite limits.

The appeal follows a rejected federal appeals court challenge.
