"I thought it was either one of our friends or children who was making post-Christmas fun with us, but the consistency of the message changed my initial mode from doubts to joy," she said. Mrs Yeboah said the husband Mr Yeboah was at the moment at Berekum in the Brong Ahafo Region engaged in farming, whiles she is a State Transport Cooperation (STC) agent at Berekum. We occasionally come to our Mamprobi base in Accra, where the EAZYFONE line is located...am very surprise, as we never consciously entered into the competition.

According to statistical figures provided by the Department of National Lotteries, official drawers of the raffle, a total of 13,069 entries were recorded for the period between November to December 31, 2006, the mandated period for the first draw.

Mr Ralph Djotepey, an official of the Department of National Lotteries explained that Greater Accra recorded 6,404 entries; Western Region, 610; Central region, 274; Ashanti Region, 4,247; Brong Ahafo, 407; Eastern Region, 208; Volta Region, 577 and Northern Region, 342. Mr Joseph Wireko, General Manager of Ghana Telecommunications in Charge of Marketing, Communications and Research said the new products "Eazyfone" had come to address problems hitherto associated with the company's fixed lines.

He said the product is a value added to GT services stressing: "Billing system which sometimes brought confrontation between GT and its customers would be a thing of the past."

He explained that with the Eazyfone a customer could check the number of calls made in a day through the system, use it in any part of the country adding, "what you can do is to look for a phone booth, dial your access code and you will be connected to your line."

Mr Wireko noted "GT Eazyfone offered a customer more convenient access to decide on calls to be made within a month. He said GT Eazyfone in addition had a password as a security that a customer could change at anytime.

Answering questions from newsmen, Mr Wireko said under the prepaid system, the company would absorb the 15 per cent VAT, which was charged to customers under the post service billing system. He said customers would, however, continue to pay the line rental charge of 50,000 cedis under the pre-paid service regime because the company would not be able to operate without it.

Mr Wireko said the post-service billing regime would continue to operate alongside the prepaid systems because of its convenience to corporate entities, which had largely shown the capacity and goodwill towards paying their bills when due.

He said for the past years, the GT had embarked on vigorous, effective, efficient and reliable telecommunication service to support government's Golden Age of Business.

Mr Wireko said Ghana Telecom, over the past few months had ran fifteen major promotions under which it rewarded loyal customers, adding that some of the awards included prepaid talk away, prepaid 50 per cent extra talk time, payphone and Onetouch valentine promotion. The three-face car package is the also to reward our loyal customers celebrate the Golden Jubilee celebration of the nation. The second and third draws would be done on February 6 and March 6 respectively at the end of which all the award winners would be presented with their cars. 06 Jan. 07
