Ghanaian rapper, Samuel Adu Frimpong, popularly known as Medikal, has requested the Government of Ghana to have a budget for creatives.

“The government should have a budget for Entertainers (Musicians, Comedians, Actors/Actresses) every year!” he said in a tweet.
His comment comes after Wendy Shay made a similar comment following the abysmal performance of the Black Stars at the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
The Black Stars exited from the competition after they lost to Comoros. The team recorded two defeats and a draw in the group stages of the tournament making it Ghana's worst performance in the AFCON tournament in history.
Some stakeholders of the creative arts are of the firm conviction that the industry will see a facelift should there be a budgetary allocation just as it is done for the sports sector.
Last year, Shatta Wale in his address to his fans noted that if the state could spend just 10% of the sports budget on music, the industry would flourish.
