The CEO of Ghana Tourism Authority, Akwasi Agyemang, highlighted Ghana's untapped tourism potential despite recent growth.
International arrivals reached 1.1 million in 2019 but fell due to COVID-19 in 2020, rebounding above pre-pandemic levels by 2023.
Domestic tourism also surged from 500,000 in 2017 to 1.4 million in 2023.
Agyemang noted significant cruise tourism growth, with nearly 10,000 arrivals in 2023 compared to sporadic visits before.
He stressed tourism's interdependence with infrastructure like roads and sanitation, emphasizing their role in sectoral development.
Overall, while acknowledging strides, he underscored room for further growth and development in Ghana's tourism industry.
