Dr Mathew Phosa, Prof. Suleman Elias Bogoro, Joseph F. Kamara, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Sinach, Fadumo Dayib and others bag 2016 African Achievers Awards
Recognised as the most prestigious honour for industrious African Heroes and hosted for the past six years, Ambassadors, High Commissioners, Distinguished Policy Makers, Entertainers and Entrepreneurs were among over 1000 guests from across but not limited to Africa who attended the glamorous 6th Edition of the 2016 African Achievers Awards which took place at the International Conference Centre, Abuja Nigeria.
A night coupled with glamour and display of Elegant African Fashion on the Red Carpet, saw how Africa was truly represented and celebrated by both the young and old as they arrive to witness the merriment with Africans who have set the pace for the smooth development of Africa.
Themed: “Securing a Stable Energy Future for Africa” and hosted by Africa’s Legendary Comedian Ali Baba, Solange Yuika and Andre Blaze, the awards ceremony kicked off with performances from various Pan-African Cultural Troupes with an intriguing Keynote Address by Cllr. Susan Fajana Thomas, former Mayor of London Hackney.
Dr Mathew Phosa, a member of the National Executive Committee of South Africa’s ruling Party, the ANC who received astounding recommendations from Ms Winnie Mandela, Julius Malema, SA’s Ex-President Kgalema Motlanthe and Ex-President Kenneth Kaunde and has worked closely with Nelson Mandela was awarded the Life Time Achievers Award being the ultimate award for his immense contribution towards various leadership assignments in South Africa most importantly during apartheid.
Notable among recipients present at the ceremony were; Dr. Mathew Phosa, Sinach, Hon Sakaja Johnson (31 years old Chairman of the Ruling Party of Kenya), Hon Habsana Jallow (youngest Member of the ECOWAS Parliament), Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, African Development Bank, Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso, Hon Thapelo Olopeng (Minister of Culture and Sports Botswana), Wale Adenuga (Creator of Super Story), Dr & Dr Mrs Nwogu, Prof. Suleman Elias Bogoro, Joseph Fitzgerald Kamara etc.
The event was also graced by several cabinet ministers including, the Minister of Youth and Sports of Nigeria, Hon Barrister Solomon Dalong, Governors, Senators, House of Rep Members and Ambassadors from across Africa.

Others who received special recognition awards for their individual contributions towards Africa included Amb. Sylvia Tettey Tamakloe, Isaac Balami, Richard Mofe Damijo and Senator Babafemi Ojudu.
The Principal Partner, Rex Idaminabo used the platform to launch a mega Energy Support Initiative dubbed “MWANGA Africa”, which has already started the process of distributing Alternative Energy Sources to rural settings across Africa with ambassadors in 20 African Countries.
