Following a turbulent week of denials, condemnation of the British Justice system, ranting and raving by various officials of the NDC, dubbed the "National Deceivers Congress", we have now been informed that after behind the close discussions with our current President, Asomdwehene, President John Evans Atta Mills and his affable Vice President, John "Obama" Dramani Mahama, two of the people named in the Mabey and Johnson Bribery and Corruption scandal have resigned. We are not breathing a sigh of relief. We do not want a Muntaka style of investigation.
The resignation of Sipa Yankey and Amadu Seidu does not go far enough. They should have been sacked immediately. I thought they were denying accepting any bribes. Some said the amount was too small, whiles others stated categorically that they were incorruptible, the Judgement of Southwark Crown Court was from a "Kangaroo court" and demanding receipts or a paper trail of the bribes.
The people of Ghana must note this carefully: An independent special prosecutor should commence an investigation immediately. They should be stripped of their diplomatic passports, Government bungalows, and all other perks immediately. They should refund all the money that they took and tell us where they have hidden the rest. If the have any other assets and bank accounts, they should be frozen immediately.
They have committed serious criminal offences and believe me, a charge sheet will be waiting for them at the Westminster Magistrates' Court, followed by the Southwark Crown Court next time they come over to London, United Kingdom on holiday or to collect the remainder of their booty from Clydesdale Bank, Barclays Bank, etc. That is, if they have not spent it already on booze and fine women!! They have pertinent questions to answer.
I thought the corrupt NDC crooks including Koku Anyidohu, J.J. Rawlings, President Atta Mills, Dr. Kwabena Adjei and other NDC party faithful were saying barely 24 hours ago that they had confidence in Dr. Sipa Yankey and that he was clean?
We now have a massive, gigantic, colossal U-turn within 24 hours. The honest, hardworking ordinary Ghanaian tax payers with the help of the SFO UK and the multi-media have brought the NDC Government to its knees. This time, Efo Segbefia and the NDC mass media machinery cannot hide behind the Crown Prosecution Service in the UK and use his influence to manipulate the situation, manipulate the media and send spurious stories and tales.
When the team of anti-corruption crusaders started researching this matter, we had an extremely strong conviction that these same NDC 'holier than thou' guys executed senior officers, former Heads of State and confiscated assets of hardworking Ghanaians for alleged corruption and dissipating Govt. 30 years ago were highly corrupt. They stole more of our money than we know of. JJ and his cronies said they were all corrupt and J.J. Rawlings (the darling of the West) was the only innocent one. He is reported to have said on National TV and on public platforms that they deserved to die. He was Junior Jesus and he had come to redeem us from the rich oppressors, from the bourgeoisie, from the neo-colonialists.
JJ told us in 1979 and again in 1981 that he strongly believed in democracy, in freedom and justice and in addition anarchy and now we know it was all pure unadulterated lies, lies lies. He was a hungry man and an angry man who saw daylight armed robbery as his only chance to enrich himself and thus came up with a master plan. The serial maker, let us have no doubt had some support at the time. In my opinion, all who chanted "Let the blood flow" including the university students are guilty as charged and should be ashamed of themselves. For intellectuals it beggars belief that they believed at the time that change of Government with a gun was better than through the ballot box. Now let us look at the state of Ghana, the once pleasant friendly people, friendly nation, has become a nation of Sakawa, Armed Robbers, a Den of Thieves with the "Do me I Do you" attitude.
Look who is laughing now!! Hear Hear, I say, "He who laughs last, last best." Let this be a lesson to the NDC. Stop lying to the electorate. An apology is not enough. The people involved should refund the money they stole immediately and stop the Dilly-dallying and delay tactics.
May the souls of the departed, in particular Okatakyie Lt. General A.A.Afrifa rest in eternal peace. He was tortured and executed on 26th June 1979 on the direct instructions of Jeremiah John Rawlings, Boakye-Gyan and their cronies in the AFRC in the name of the so-called "Revolution".
You may wish to leave a tribute, photo, flowers, poem or article at the memorial website of General Afrifa (rtd), former Member of Parliament for Mampong who was not given the opportunity to take his seat and serve his people that he loved so much
