Alleged Bribery Of Ghanaians Not To .....

Participate In Anti-Government Demonstration: United Cadres’ Front Reacts

The United Cadres’ Front (UCF) of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) wish to express our disgust on the allegation by some so-called Ghanaian residents in Germany that the Government of Ghana, led by the National Democratic Congress, bribed some of our citizens not to partake in a demonstration against the President, while paying others to meet him .
We view this allegation as very wicked, unpatriotic and very-very infantile for people who identify themselves as Ghanaians to go to such lengths just because of partisan patronage. It is indeed a shame that in such disgraceful undertakings, people terminate refined mental analysis when making these unfounded allegations.
It is unfortunate that people of such negative thinking act in manners that expose Ghanaians to international ridicule as if we all think like them. We are of this opinion because it is difficult to fathom where the Presidency could be getting 500 and 1,000 Euros to bribe Ghanaians in that country who met the President and his entourage. And we were there to also solicit economic assistance from the German government?
The UCF is stating emphatically that the President is not a “COWARD” as he is being labeled by the lawless demonstrators. They ought to be told that he was being hosted by a colleague head of state and it was the sole responsibility of the German authorities to secure him.
As such it is very absurd for the group to have stated in part that “…The truth of the matter is that his handlers, having seen the size of the demonstrators, sneaked him into the hotel through the backdoor, like the coward he is, unable to face his own countrymen and women…” Even in their own statement they contended that “…his handlers…” – not himself! And if that is the case, why did they so conveniently label him a ”coward”?.
The President, indeed, met with his countrymen and women who were ready to dialog with him and suggest solutions to the numerous challenges facing us.
We are by this statement challenging the so-called few Ghanaians who ‘love’ Ghana more than the majority in this country who voted President Mahama and the NDC into political office, to table the evidence of bribe they are alleging for all to see. If they are unable to meet this request they should shamefully – but honourably apologize to the honourable Ghanaians who met with the President they are alleging to have been bribed to be in attendance.
Patronage in partisan politics should not make us lose our individual/collective intellect in seeing things objectively.
