I have been an ardent listener of most of the radio stations of the Multimedia
group namely Joy, Adom, Luv, Nhyira,Hitz & Asempa. This reputable company has
been able to come up with personalities who have distinguished themselves in
various fields of journalism. One such person who immediately comes to mind is
Komla Dumor of the BBC world service & formerly of Joy fm where he used to host
the super morning show.
Multimedia has been able to live up to it’s name over the years until the
addition of a new radio station Asempa fm & specifically the host of it’s late
afternoon political talkshow Nana Kwabena Bobie Ansah. Since this particular
particular guy took over the program (Ekosii sen) from Ken Addy all ethics of
journalism which is held in high esteem by this company has been thrown to the
dogs. A lot of prominent people in the society have suffered the vilification
of this apology of a presenter.
Notably among these people are Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo Addo, the flagbearer
of the New Patriotic Party of which I’m a die-hard sympathiser & Kwesi
Nyantakyi, the chairman of the Ghana Football Association. The way & manner
he casts insults & insinuations on my flagbearer Nana Addo especially
sometimes gives me the impression that he has a personal grudge with him & so
will do everything possible to make him look like the devil himself. The
worst of it all came when Nana Addo made his infamous “all die be die”
comment. He used this as a topic on his program for more than a month. During
this time he invited all manner of persons mostly ndc sympathisers to rain
insults on Nana Addo’s personality as usual. Before Nana was even elected as
flagbearer, he tried everything in his power including concocting false
stories, inciting tribal hatred, describing him in all sorts of words & so on
all in a bid to discredit the man but failed.
After all that he still continues with his evil agenda because there is not
a single day on his program that he does not say or allow someone else to
say something bad about Nana Addo or the npp in general even if the topic
under discussion has got nothing to do with any of them. All his comments &
actions point to the fact that he’s been paid with the tax-payers money to
do the bidding the Mills/Mahama government as been rumoured so he doesn’t
care what the consequences of his actions are as long as it paints Nana Addo
& the entire npp black. He usually puts up this arrogant defensive posture
whenever anyone tries to call him to order or correct him. In one of those
instances he casted insinuations on one of his senior colleagues Kojo Oppong
Nkrumah on air for trying to put him on track when the Hon. Kennedy Agyepong
and the Alhaji Bature’s issue came up.
He uses his platform to raise tensions and dabbles in a lot of unnecessary
sensationalism which has led to a number of battle of insults & even violent
clashes in the studio between representatives of the two main political
parties, npp & ndc. It seems he’s always interested in trivial & irrelevant
issues which do not promote peace.
The most dangerous thing he does on his programme is his constant incitement of
tribal sentiments against npp aided by his friends in the ndc. He always try to
use every given opportuinity to tag the npp as an Ashanti party in a bid to
incite the other tribes against them. I learnt he’s an Ashanti himself from
Mampong so how on earth would any sane person want to incite tribal hatred
against his own tribesmen? This is one of the easiest ways to start a civil war
in this country yet it seems the management of Multimedia have turned a blind
eye to it. Despite all the numerous calls from concerned members of the public
have fallen on deaf ears which give me the impression that he has gotten the
full approval of his superiors.
I used to like this guy right from his early days at Luv fm through to Hello fm
all in Kumasi due to his jovial nature but it seems money took over his sense
of reasoning immediately he landed at Asempa fm. Multimedia has gotten to this
stage due to it’s objectivity, neutrality & adherence to the journalism ethics
so they must not be blinded only by the commercial benefits Nana Bobie Ansah
brings on board but the general security of the nation. I call on all those who
call the shots at Multimedia to do something about this man who seems to be
only interested in pushing this nation into something similar to the Rwandan
genocide. A word to the wise is enough.
