Cadres React To Sammy Awuku’s Call For “A Youth Revolution”

The Interim Management Committee (IMC) of the United Cadres’ Front (UCF), have read with utter shock, the call by the National Youth Organizer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Mr. Sammy Awuku calling for what he terms “A Youth Revolution”.
We take this statement of trying to incite the youth against the state as an act of desperation coming after the Electoral Commission’s (EC) Stake-Holders Forum held on October 28-29, 2015. The NPP, having been floored by the overwhelming rejection of their call for a new Voters Register at the stake-holders forum – now thinks that the next available ‘WEAPON’ for them is to unleash the youth against state authority.
The threat by Sammy Awuku ought not to be seen as an individual posturing – but a statement that cannot be isolated from the NPP as a political family. We are of this opinion because this same man was one of the active organizers of the 16th September, 2015, “Let My Vote Count Alliance” demonstration which turned violent. The NPP lent its support to the needless act which led to some of the demonstrators suffering various degrees of injury – some very fatal.
We have noted with concern that ever since the party failed in its court action to over-turn the presidential results of the 2012 elections; the leadership have overtly and covertly instigated its activists to make this country very-very UNGOVERNABLE since the National Democratic Congress (NDC) took over the mantle of governance leadership.
The acts of provocation/destabilization have thus continued up till this time of Sammy Awuku’s threat of “A Youth Revolution”
The United Cadres’ Front wish to send this CAUTION to him and his ilk in the NPP, that the TACTICAL SILENCE by the NDC and its affiliate organs is not borne out of fear – but that using democratic structures to address concerns of common interests is the best way to go. Why should the majority’s opinion on cleaning the register culminate to “A Youth Revolution” just because the NPP most likely would not get what it is clamouring for?
Having said so, it is our belief – and understandably so, that the very fore-seeable loss of the 2016 elections by the NPP is what is causing the party’s apprehension. And if that is what is destabilizing their unity – then Sammy Awuku should use his “Youth Revolution” in ‘REVOLUTIONALIZING’ the unity they so much desire now. The UCF thinks that is the way to go instead of thinking that they can use the youth to destabilize this country.
We call on the PATRIOTIC YOUTH of GHANA to stand up against these agent provocateurs who, for their selfish political lust for power – push them into any acts that will draw this dear country of ours, a Zillion steps back from how far we have come.
WE NEED ONE GHANA – WE HAVE HER!
WE NEED A DEMOCRACY – WE HAVE IT!
WE NEED RULE OF LAW – WE MUST PRACTICE IT!
