With respect to the current economic hardship, corruption, depreciation of the cedi and the high unemployment in Ghana, it came to us as a shock when it was whispered into our ears by someone from the Office of Dr. Papa Kwesi Nduom, that he was hanging his Political boots. We are also ostensibly informed that Dr. Nduom has uttered his frustrations about the conspicuous trend of voting pattern by Ghanaians over the years and has thus advised himself not to participate in the 2016 Presidential elections as a candidate. We consider Dr. Nduom’s decision as rather selfish and unpatriotic, if the hearsay has any iota of truth.
We wish to also state clearly that it’s been two months now since we officially wrote to his office to find out if what we are hearing is true but we have not had any response so far. We are still awaiting an answer.
As Youth of the PPP which is made up of the Progressive Youth Movement (PYM), Volunteers For Nduom (VOFOND) and other groups within the party, we hereby wish to openly petition Dr. Papa Kwesi Nduom to reconsider his decision to hang his Political boots but rather think of contesting, a decision whose outcome shall save Ghanaians from the current economic bondage.
We find it very difficult to understand why Dr. Papa Kwesi Nduom, a successful businessman would now want to be selfish by thinking about himself and his family and not think of helping to restore Ghana's image which has sunk very low on the international scene. We wish to join the many Ghanaians and all PPP sympathizers who strongly hold the view that, Dr. Papa Kwesi Nduom is the man ordained by God to rescue Ghana from the current economic hopelessness to plead with Dr. Nduom to reconsider his decision and rather contest the 2016 General election. A win in 2016 will certainly turn things around for the good of all.
This is the most critical time for Dr. Nduom to show patriotism and love for country. It is evident enough that President Mahama does not have the wherewithal to fight the corruption and mismanagement of his appointees. Having conducted a nationwide opinion and assessment on the candidature of all those who have so far declared their intentions to be President, it is obvious to many that, Ghana is at a crossroad and there is the need for the emergence of a time and tested true leader.
After touring 9 Tertiary institutions in 6 regions of Ghana, we have received assurances from floating voters, including market women, students, teachers, farmers, and the elderly about their desire to vote for Dr. Papa Kwesi Nduom, should he contest the 2016 General elections.
Most Ghanaians believe that Dr Nduom has the requisite political, economic, family, religious and educational foundation which puts him ahead of his contemporaries. The only politician who has made Ghanaians believe that politics can be decent is Edwumawura. We therefore see no reason why Dr Nduom should retire from politics at such a tender age where we expect him to showcase his credentials. We and many Ghanaians believe Nduom is the best candidate who will give Ghanaians the needed direction and hope.
We want to assure Dr Nduom that, as youth of the party, we shall use all legitimate means to ensure that come 2016, his victory shall be much bigger. (Insha Allah). We respectfully wish that Dr. Papa Kwesi Nduom would change his decision and context the 2016 election.
As the deer panteth for the water so we longeth after Dr Papa Kwesi Nduom. He alone is our hearts desire and we long to see him as President of Ghana.
Long Live the beloved Progressive People’s Party
Long Live the Youth of PPP
Long Live Ghana as we move for a change that may bring reforms to us
