Ebony goes home as Mahama still licks wounds

The long-awaited final funeral rites of Nana Hemaa Priscilla Opoku Kwarteng, aka Ebony Reigns, came off last Saturday. The crowd and the outpouring of grief were simply overwhelming. If only Ebony could see the love, genuine or otherwise, her compatriots expressed during her funeral.

I was down with malaria last Saturday, so I wasn’t strong enough to attend the funeral to pay my last respect. My situation epitomized the popular saying, “The soul is willing, but the body is weak.”

As I watched the mammoth crowd and outpouring of grief on television, I could not help but wonder if the average bloke from Dr. Kwame Okro’s own motherland was indeed as hypocritical as being alluded. I wondered if the tears being shed were real or crocodile tears. I also wondered if those shedding tears were the same people who crucified her for her choice of dressing when she was alive. “If only we had shown her a little love and understanding,” I soliloquized.

The sermon by Dr. Lawrence Tetteh was very apt. We are a people who are very judgmental, even though we may be worse than those we judge. Indeed, many were those who criticized her choice of dressing, even though same or even worse could be found in their various homes. Dr. Tetteh, therefore, used the occasion to tell the ‘holier-than-thou’ folks to cast the first stone if they had not sin before.

Friends, family and fans may all grieve her departure to Samanfoland. But, in the end, the pain of losing a loved one is very personal. So only her family members and close friends could feel her departure most. While we console her family and friends for the great loss, we also pray for her soul to have peace with its Maker!

President Ogwanfunu was in the news last week. He was heard in faraway UK desperately complaining about some perceived wrongs in the current administration. He even went to the extent of verbally attacking an innocent pastor.

I will forgive him for attacking the pastor because it is obvious he is disturbed and confused. Knowing that silence is golden, I’m sure the pastor will not dignify President Ogwanfunu’s outburst with a response.

Abusuapanin, President Ogwanfunu really needs the prayers of all his compatriots. He needs special prayers to help him heal the wounds President Nana Dee inflicted on him on December 7, 2016. Obviously, the wounds are far from healing.

Anytime he opens his mouth, one can detect a hint of emotional pain. You see, when one speaks with so much emotional pain, one tends to put common sense and rationality into the dust bin. That was exactly how President Ogwanfunu spoke in faraway Obroniland.

He was reported to have said that if the Nana Dee government switched-off the power-generating facilities he provided when he was in power, the country would revisit the ‘dumsor’ era. I could not believe my eyes when I first read the story. I thought it was false news until I saw the video with my ‘konkonsaic’ eyes.

But for emotional instability, I doubt if an intelligent man such as President Ogwanfunu would utter such a wacky request. Do you now understand when I say emotional pain leads to disregard for common sense and rationality? What a pitiable request!

What if President Mills also wrote a letter from his grave to his compatriots requesting the country to stop using the facilities he provided when he was President? What if President Kufuor had stopped President Mills and subsequently President Ogwanfunu himself from using oil proceeds and related sources to develop the state during their tenure as presidents? What if Dr. Boom and Dr. Okro did same? Of course, such bizarre requests would lead the country to eternal damnation.

Frankly, I sympathize with President Ogwanfunu. The punches he received at 2016 polls were very devastating. The cuts he got were also very deep and have refused to heal. As a result, the sores have become infested.

Unfortunately for him, the Nana Dee government is raking the infested sores by arraigning members of the erstwhile government to court for various corruption acts. Indeed, one can only imagine the pain of a person with such raked and infested sores.

But the good news is that there is a cure for his infested sores. ‘Onaapo Bitters’ is a concoction that can serve as a catalyst and speed up the healing process. It is a concoction with 44.4% alcoholic concentration. Taking it religiously would give him some relief.

The wonder concoction also acts as a hallucinogen. It makes people hallucinate and puts them in a state of nirvana. Perhaps, it is the reason the likes of General Mosquito and Koku Anyidoho continue to speak as if they are in power. The concoction has made them delirious, so they have the mistaken belief that they are in a very comfortable lead.
