Ghana @58,the state of northern Ghana

BY EMMANUEL AGYEMFRA BOATENG

It is yet another March and Ghana as a country celebrates her 58th birthday, whether in riches or in poverty, only God knows!I'm not going to highlight on Ghana as a whole but the Northern Ghana and the journey so far.
The three Northern Regions of Ghana are the pride of the Country considering the different kind of food products they supply the country with, and other tourist benefits we get from the North that boost the country's GDP.
Osagyefo Dr. kwame Nkrumah through his better initiatives developed the three Northern regions in terms of education,Agriculture, and human development programmes. All these initiatives made the North worth leaving in!but what became of the north after Osagyefo's tenure?
All factories that were started by the President were abandoned and left to rot making the North a place the youth never saw any dream in!After 58 years as a nation and in Northern Ghana,we cannot point to one thing that will make the north worth staying in today.
58 years and we still can't do much with our Shea nut,Cotton,Cashew and other cash crops.
58 years and we still have our creme de la creme of the North trooping down south to be Potters in Kejetia and Makola,58 yeaars and we dont have Factories in the North that can absorb the teeming youth!
If Northen Ghana was to be a Civil Servant,he would've been the poorest government worker ever due to the negligence of our past and present leaders both Political and Traditional.
I think our Political leaders have done us more harm done good, especially our MPs who promise us heaven on earth but tend to betray us when we need them most, but come back to buy our votes to ride in the SUVs again.Parliamentarians alone in the North and those as Ministers of state can collectively help build Mother North to a standard whrte everyone will yearn to travell to see.
We have UDS!Yes we have a University, but have we asked oursekves how many of the graduates from the University wish to stay and work in the North?
58 years and the we still cannot do anything with the bright, scorching and strong sun in the North and we still cry and lament over Dumsor Dumsor!58 years and we still have a Witches camp instead of an Aged Home!58years and we still have young girls of school going age being married off to men as older than their fathers!
I write this article with pain in my heart!we have nice tourists sites here in the North but what do we do with the proceeds, how are we maintaining it to meet world standards?
58 years and the vibrant youth of the north are bought by politicians to be tugs to do their bidding, some of us these youths fall for them because they have no jobs doing.
If Singapore is 50 years and are leaving in affordable houses and sky scappers...then what happened to Akua Ghana's North, the bread basket of the Counrty Ghana.
Most of the Rich sons and daughters of the North should go back home and set up or build the same businesses they have down South. Many of the potters or kayayes at the South can be engaged in artisanry skills to better their living standards.
You and i knpw the current nature of Mother North after 58 years of Ghanas Independence is nothing to write home about but all hope isn't lost yet,if we the youth are going to stand up as the people of Singapore did, then the withered green North will bounce back to it' sGreener feet again.
I humbly entreat the NORHERN PARLIAMENTARY CAUCAUS,MINISTERS OF STATE FROM THE NORTH ANDF WELL TO DO SONS AND DAUGHTERSVOF THE NORTH to please think about their mother land.
The three Northern Regions of Ghana needs more improvement than what we are seeing now.
LONG LIVE NORTHERN GHANA...LONG LIVE THE NORTHERN YOUTH...LONG LIVE GHANA
