Is the Ghana Ministry of Education aware of how the Headmaster of Kumawu Tweneboa Kodua Senior High School is ripping off the students? Mr Nantwi, an alumnus of the school has obstinately taken to the path that will ultimately culminate in the academic and social behavioural collapse of the school in less than no time. What a shame for an old student who left the school in 1972 to behave so shamelessly irresponsibly.
Among some of his clearly irresponsible measures bordering on thievery are the following:
1. He has billed every student a compulsory fee of GHC50 per term for what he terms as “Motivational fee for the teachers”. Why should he charge students that amount of money simply to share among the teachers to motivate them to stay at Tweneboa Kodua Senior High School? Has the government approved of such silly dictatorial measures to be taken by heads of schools at whim?
He has been sending students who although have paid the entirety of their government approved fees, and haven’t been able to afford the payment of the “motivational fees” home. The students will only be admitted back to school and classes after they have paid the charged GHC50 motivational fee.
2. He has been forcing students to buy various books for quite some time now. Lately, he has introduced a particular type of bible to the school. He is OBLIGING every student to purchase a copy of that particular bible. Any student who does not buy one is threatened with suspension from the school.
Some students who claim to possess bibles already hence do not need to have a send bible are still threatened with suspension if they failed to buy from him his new version of the bible.
From where has Mr Nantwi, a former student of then Kumawu Tweneboa Kodua Secondary School, now Kumawu Tweneboa Kodua Senior High School found this shameless audacity to inflict daylight robbery on the good students of the school?
The present students unlike during our time under the late Headmaster Mr Bang of blessed memory, are too undisciplined because of the laissez faire style of leadership or administration adopted by the headmaster to running the school.
Mr Nantwi was simply a teacher at Kumasi Anglican Senior High School without ever holding a position like Housemaster, Assistant Headmaster or whatever, before he was transferred to Kumawu to head his former school as the headmaster hence a totally square peg in a round hole but full to the brim with corrupt practices.
To assuage the anger of most of the teachers who a few months ago were peeved of his corrupt administrative style, he has given them plenty of leeway to also compulsorily sell their written or acquired books, booklets or pamphlets to the students although such books, may not be of any relevance to the courses or subjects the students are studying.
This is a shame! I want the Ministry of Education to investigate these ongoing malpractices at the school.
I shall in the course of time publish a true form copy of the students’ school fees bill on which this nonsensical “motivational fee” is stated.
My country Ghana is now rotten beyond redemption due to the fondness for corruption by those at the helm of its affairs.
The few honest ones shall keep on fighting until the situation is returned to normalcy.
What is your take on this, oh, the entire alumni of Kumawu Tweneboa Kodua Secondary School?
Where are Adwoa Owuo, Atinka (now in Pennsylvania- USA), Hannah Bonsu, Elizabeth Galloway, Akosa Roland, Atupem Roland and Daniel Sekyere-Marfo et al? Please get in touch to help save T.K.S.S. from collapse under the hands of a corrupt headmaster.
