Standing under the shade of a mighty Grandifolia tree (mahogany that is) on July 14, 2016, having a chat with friends, a black Toyota Landcruiser with pitch tint pulled up in the middle of the parking lot at Afrikiko, a very popular multi-activity park with nice restaurants and good ambiance.
Initially, it looked normal, and we could not discern the personality in that vehicle until strange things began to happen. An attendant of the parking lot approached the vehicle and spoke to a man in the back seat. From a distance he looked little, dwarfed by the space around him. The silhouette of his incongruous face through the reflection that was coming from the tint of my vehicle told me a story of mischief and impishness, quite like a British wizard with crooked legs and abnormal nose.
I blinked as I focused my eyes on this character. Lo and behold, it was Asiedu Ntetia, the irresponsible general secretary of the NDC, who was made its campaign manager to engage in nefarious activities along with some scamps from his camp. He dished out money to the first person. The second one sauntered shyly and received his, too. The disabled one , also, got his share.
The Toyota Landcruiser turned around and drove past as if in a slow motion of defiance, noticeable in the demeanour of any NDC individual or group of terrorists. The best part of this story is yet to come. I approached one of the fellows and greeted him in the regular good spirits of the GA dialect. I exclaimed, "Oh maaan, how I wished I had noticed soon enough that it was our GS in the car." The ecstatic young man was happy to hear an obroni speak the dialect so he loosened up a little bit and asked, "Are you a Ghanaian and NDC?"
"Of course," I replied, "can't you see that I look like Harry Zakkoor? I am his brother!" GOD forbid that I should look like him, but hey I had to say what I had to say to lure him into my trap.
This time, the kid became overly enthusiastic about the affairs of the NDC and said, "kwemon, ke moko ntao sane, won ba gyile tomon gbekebi." Translated to English it meant, "Look, if anyone wants trouble, we will beat him like a child!"
Is that not terrorism?
So I enquired further, and he told me that Asiedu Ntetia personally tours the areas he can access to take information about foreigners and others, first hand. In other places, there are delegated charlatans who send him spy reports, also. Investigations have revealed an alarming precedent, which was not normal in days before the wicked reign of the NDC since 2009. In fact such illegal actions breach the rights of people and break the rules of civility. These spies are everywhere! They are at hotels, restaurants, public places, beaches, and other venues of gathering. This situation is reminiscent of the ugly days of military juntas and dictatorships under the NDC and its predecessor, the PNDC. Sometimes, an NDC informant would follow a victim to the toilet just to eavesdrop on a telephone conversation.
Has the NDC become so desperate that they terrorise foreigners by spying on them, and then tracking them down for whatever evil intentions they harbour in their horror-riddled characters? Why is our democracy being so desecrated? Why are our rights continually violated by these unfashionable criminals? I no longer wonder why Jerry John Rawlings, the very founder of the NDC, is fighting against his own party. After all, Asideu Nketia, who once was his errand boy, and who for a long period of time wore the used shoes of Kimathi Rawlings, sold his master out and called him a hound; a dog!
I advise all foreigners to look into the crescendo of incompetence that has stalled development in Ghana, and which has rolled over to destroy their businesses, to talk to their workers, colleagues, friends and acquaintances. Tell them that if this evil government is voted back into Power, they would pack and leave the country. That would mean joblessness and untold misery. Such a situation won't be strange anyway because many companies have already left the shores of this country or folded up due to bad fiscal policies that weighed down heavily on their businesses. The affected workers have remained unemployed till date.
All Ghanaians should endeavour to vote for change, otherwise the hot kitchen that we were told to take our passports and leave would become hotter than we could manage to escape. Please vote John Dramani Mahama out! Vote for the incorruptible Nana Addo Dankwah Akufo-Addo! Vote for the one who fought for many of our rights that the NDC has since coerced! Vote the shame of our times, John Mahama, out!
It is time to change the diaper folks, and for the same reason too.
