In case you are not shocked or worried as to why Nana Akufo-Addo who wants to be president at all cost, continues to sit in the courtroom whilst his deputy Dr Mahamadu Bawumia struggles to convince the Supreme Court justices to admit his personal analysis as evidence, you may be in for a blockbuster shocker.
Information that rebounded around my corner has it that Nana Akufo-Addo has privately told some associates that the Supreme Court challenge to the 2012 Presidential Election results is Dr Bawumia’s case.
Nana Akufo-Addo is reported to have added that he has no hand in the evidence gathering and the self-styled analysis by Dr Bawumia which was put on CD-ROM and is currently gathering dust at the premises of the Supreme Court.
This revelation came when some close associates of Nana Akufo-Addo who have seen the way Bawumia is struggling with the court proceedings held a meeting with him to impress upon him to either take the stand to enhance the case or take the bow by abandoning the case.
It was at this meeting that Nana Akufo-Addo was very candid and told those who were present that the case solely belongs to Bawumia and that he only goes to court to lend his support. In fact, he is reported to have stated that he has no knowledge of how the evidence was gathered and does not even understand the analysis on the CD-ROM.
Is it therefore, any wonder why Nana Akufo-Addo who stands to gain the most by becoming the Commander-in-Chief of the Ghana Armed Forces and President of the Republic of Ghana if the NPP wins the case, deliberately failed to file an affidavit in the on-going case before the Supreme Court?
If you happen to check all the affidavits filed with the Supreme Court you will find the names of Nana Akufo-Addo and Jake Obetsebi Lamptey the first and third petitioners missing.
One would therefore be tempted to ask why Nana Akufo-Addo who is the first petitioner and will benefit the most if the case tilts in his favour, did not file any of the affidavits. This behaviour simply confirms the story that Nana Akufo-Addo does not want to have anything to do with the case because he has no clue about the whole show.
Another school of thought has it that because Nana Akufo-Addo does not understand how the evidence was gathered and analyzed by Bawumia, he refused to file any affidavit for fear of being hauled to the witness box to testify about issues he does not know or have no clue.
The simple truth is that because Nana Akufo-Addo and Jake did not file affidavits, there are no ways the counsels for the three respondents can force them to testify in court. Nana Akufo-Addo and Jake will simply say that they did not file affidavits; therefore they cannot be forced to testify.
Some pundits believe that by refusing to file an affidavit Akufo-Addo can insulate himself if he loses the case. He will simply take himself out of blame and point to the fact that he was not part of the evidence gathering committee which is why he did not file any affidavit to give credence to the case.
This then puts the onus squarely at the doorsteps of Bawumia who will be forced to owe the pot (case) if it eventually gets broken.
