It ought to have become clear to the New Patriotic Party’s Member of Parliament for Assin-Central, in the Central Region, by now that making a veritable nuisance of himself throughout the first term of President Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, to the detriment and debilitation of the ruling party, may gain him a few friends among the desperate ranks of the country’s main opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), but it is not the sort of friendship that is likely to withstand the test of time.
The fact of the matter is that Mr. Kennedy Ohene Agyapong virulently insults the intelligence of the members of the Governing Board and the Management of the Ghana International Trade Fair Site, when he cavalierly presumes Mr. Daniel McKorley, the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the GITFCL, and Dr. Agnes Adu, the Chief Executive Officer of the GITFCL, not to know what the two were really doing when they legally and legitimately embarked on the recent demolition exercise that saw the temporary structures of some 28 recalcitrant entrepreneurial squatters razed to make way for the massive redevelopment of the prime and fetching landed property that is the Ghana International Trade Fair Site (See “Trade Fair Demolition: ‘They’re Abusing Powers; It’s You Today, It’s Me Tomorrow – Ken Agyapong” Classfmonline.com / Ghanaweb.com 2/21/20).
If, indeed, the KenCity media proprietor is fully convinced that Mr. McKorley and Dr. Adu have flagrantly abused their powers of opportunely ensuring that the imperative re-development of the Trade Fair Site, which is projected to create hundreds of thousands of jobs, proceeded on schedule, rather needed to have been indefinitely put on hold, by the lights of Mr. Agyapong, while highly politically connected scofflaws like Mr. Raymond Archer deliberately, mischievously, criminally and regressively stalled the economic-development agenda of President Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, then, by all means, the owner of the Oman Communications Network can join forces with the infamous former muckraking editor of the Inquirer newspaper and promptly head for the courts to stop what the morally self-righteous Assin-Central lawmaker terms as the egregious abuse of power by Monsieur McKorley and Dr. Adu.
But even before we fully launch any further into a fuller discussion of the subject at hand, maybe somebody ought to inform Mr. Agyapong that both Dr. Adu and Mr. McKorley are very successful entrepreneurs themselves who do not need any talking down lectures from the Assin-Central lawmaker and media owner, regarding what it means to run a business enterprise or an employment agency. Mr. Agyapong may be too full of himself to know this, but it is worth noting that Dr. Adu is an accomplished optometrist or eye doctor who, the last time that yours truly had the chance to check, owned at least two optical shops and clinics in the southeastern American State of Georgia, right here in the United States. You see, just because Dr. Adu is not temperamentally made in the mold of a blowhard or reckless braggadocio like Mr. Agyapong does not mean that the CEO of the Ghana International Trade Fair Site has absolutely no clue about what it means to run a sizeable business enterprise or actually own one, for that matter.
There also absolutely no need at this juncture for yours truly to discuss other aspects of last week Sunday’s demolition exercise any further because I have already written and published a three-part column series critically examining the full details of what went on behind the scenes and for how long, prior to the very necessary decision taken by both the Board of Directors and the Management of the GITFCL to have entrepreneurial scofflaws like Mr. Archer fully and instructively appreciate the workings of the law at its best. You see, it is pathologically self-centered two-timing and two-faced ruling party operatives like Mr. Agyapong who are making it excruciatingly difficult for President Akufo-Addo to opportunely meet his national-development targets, and Mr. Agyapong had better and frankly be made aware of this most painful and insufferably annoying fact.
