LEAD-Ghana launches the maiden edition of Ghana’s Top 30 Under 30 Awards
Tamale, October 10, 2011- LEAD-Ghana, a non-governmental organization based in
Tamale announces the launch of the maiden edition of Ghana’s Top 30 under 30 award
competitions to celebrate outstanding Ghanaian youth who are leading change efforts in
their local communities. The objectives of the Award Program are to:
1. Identify young Ghanaians who have initiated change efforts that are focused on
improving the lives of others
2. Inspire and support these youth in their efforts
3. Create a national platform to showcase their impact on local communities
4. Demonstrate that youth can effectively serve as change leaders in Ghana
LEAD-Ghana’s Top 30 Under 30 Award program, the first of its kind is designed specifically
to acknowledge, encourage and celebrate excellence amongst Ghanaian youth by giving
them the opportunity to gain valuable exposure and well-deserved recognition for their
national ambitions. The Awards will the highest honors that can be bestowed to young
people in the country.
At the end of the competition, 30 outstanding young men and women will be selected and
awarded for their creativity and innovation. They will receive cash rewards to support their
work in their local communities across the country. They will also benefit from the media
attention generated through the event which is expected to provide the winners with
networking and fundraising opportunities.
“It is critical we recognize and reward the remarkable accomplishment of our youth and
more importantly position them as change agents and role models for younger Ghanaians”
said Awin Peter, the Director of LEAD-Ghana.
Program activities are scheduled to start by October 2011 with the final award ceremony to
be held in August 2012. The maiden event promises to be truly remarkable and we expect
the event to attract the attention of the youth, government, entrepreneurs and high profile
speakers, the media, private sector institutions, and other development institutions
throughout the country.
LEAD-Ghana is looking for nominations from across the country. To nominate a candidate

The selection criteria for the Top 30 Awards includes that nominees must:
1. Be under the age 30 years old by 31st
December 2011

3. Be able to show tangible evidence of how their initiative have had a significant impact
on their communities
4. Demonstrate that their innovative idea has a potential for growth or replication
5. Demonstrate willingness and commitment to replicate and sustain their initiative
after the award.
Deadline for nomination is on December 31st
2011.
The award ceremony which will be held in Tamale, the northern regional capital in March
2012 will attract.
Presentation on Top 30 Under 30 Award program will be held in all the regional capitals.
