"...On this day, whatever you do or want, enjoy Kwame Nkrumah's blessings and the Unitary, anti-confederate Ghana he enabled for you and your diminutive kith and kin. Enjoy all of that, from Independence Avenue to Industry City, to Education Street, to Scholarship Avenue, to Adomi Bridge, to Development Park, to Power Town, to the African Woman Landmark, to the Pan African, Global Enclaves...Read his Book...Then One...Then Another... Then the Other..." (Prof Lungu, 25 Dec 15).
The days are getting shorter in the upper northern hemisphere and it is now the funny political season for all manner of political propagandists!
We will confess that we do not know whether it is youthful zeal, wretched ignorance, or sycophancy that make some people, including "serious historians", write articles about the confluence of the history of Ghana, public policy, and the like, etc., that read like fantasy statements composed at high elevations where there is precious little oxygen for the human brain and flesh to function properly.
Said one such "serious historian", Mr. Collin Essamuah, the other day regarding the "launching" of a book by Mr. Mahama he never bothered to indentify in so many words.
READ:
"...President Mahama becomes the second President in our history since independence in 1957 to stand and explain what is what to Ghanaians, the first being the man he calls his father, the man he succeeded...in 2012...None of our earlier Presidents, from the famous President Nkrumah from 1960 to 1966,...to 2009, found it appropriate to subject themselves to such a physically and intellectually tasking exercise..."
Well, well, intellectual Master Collin Essamuah!
Maybe you want to come again.
Tell all of us!
We did not know a "serious historian" can, by their pen, summarily dismiss the achievements of a Prime Minister inside a cacophonous pen under the roof of a House of Parliament.
We did not know a "serious historian" can, by their pen, summarily dismiss the achievements of a Leader of Government Business and a Prime Minister.
WE DID NOT KNOW A "SERIOUS HISTORIAN" CAN, BY THEIR OWN PEN, SUMMARILY DISMISS THE "FOUNDER" WHO IS ACTUALLY THE FATHER OF THE "FATHER".
Therefore, should we just doubt the competence of our "serious historian", or just get "annoyed" and go on about our business?
Maybe the fault is not with our contemporary "serious historians".
Maybe the fault lies with those who in fact sold the legacies - in pictures, in films, in facilities and structures, in culture and history, before our "serious historians" could earn their wings at Scholarship Avenue.
TALKING ABOUT "CHAMPIONS", UN-SERIOUS "HISTORIANS", AND BARE-NAKED PROPAGANDISTS!
In Luciano-song and lyrics: Good God! Good God! Good I! Look What They're Doing to Your World!
What a life!
Therefore, on this day, whatever you do or want, enjoy Kwame Nkrumah's blessings and the Unitary, anti-confederate Ghana he enabled for you and your diminutive kith and kin.
Enjoy all of that, from Independence Avenue to Industry City, to Education Street, to Scholarship Avenue, to Development Boulevard, to Adomi Bridge.
To Power Town
To Power of the African Woman Landmarks.
To the Pan-African, Global Enclaves.
Read Kwame Nkrumah's Book!
Then One!
Then Another!
Then the Other!
Read more about all of that at www.GhanaHero.com/Visions.
Then, to re-claim your "Mojo", send your questions and comments to the Critical School of Empirical Historicism. After that, you will internalize that not every "lecture" by a father is equal, even identical in significance, to just another.
What a life this contrived day!
So it goes, Ghana!
