Muntaka should apologize

Muhammed Muntaka Mubarak, the immediate past Minister of Youth and Sports who only just resigned, went into office knowing full well the level of discipline and comportment President J.E.A. Mills and all Ghana expected of him. He was aware of the various scandals that had rocked very many government office holders some of whom are even now being investigated yet decided to allow his libido to disgrace him out of office so prematurely and is now resorting to the blame game. It is sad as it is absurd. I am not interested in talking about financial malfeasance which I have no proof of, it is for the authorities to exonerate him or find him culpable. it is for them to establish his guilt or innocence. It is not my cup of tea because I am not an investigator, I am more concerned about my country Ghana which is bigger.

Indeed it is heart warming to know that he was not accused of stealing money. However I am worried about why many high office holders resort to running after women with their positions and government resources which is the tax payer's money. My grouse about Muntaka's scandal is the use of state resources to finance his alleged girlfriend's trip to Cote d'Ivoire and Germany, a woman who is not useful in any way to our sport. This is a clear pointer that Muntaka did not learn any useful lessons from his predecessors, neither can he claim he is a good thinker, if he were a good thinker he would have known his actions would not be covered for long, he should have known his actions would disgrace President MIlls who had reposed so much confidence in him and elevated him to such high office.

He should have known women have been the Waterloo of many a man. He should have taken a cue from others like Samson in the bible. Quite a few days ago the Governor of South Carolina in the US was fiinished by an Argentine woman. He was honorable enough to admit his sin without resorting to any blame game. That is an honorable man, not so with our own Muntaka who is blaming NDC his party for his sins. He allowed the female trappings that characterize high offices to trap him and box him in. Now he is accusing certain elements within our party NDC for his woes for digging his own grave. This is the most pointless, senseless insensitive statement to make against your own people. How can a right thinking person blame others for his woes when he acted consciously and foolishly?

If he was traveling for a few days and could not control his libido why is he now blaming every one but himself? Was it his detractors who applied for permission from Mr Alban Sumana Bagbin, the majority leader in parliament to take his {Bagbin's} secretary to Abidjan, was it his NDC detractors who applied for visa at the German embassy for his trip to Germany with the lady in question? And he initially denied it. What a senseless talk from a shalllow thinker, a man without balls. He should blame his libido and stop pointing fingers at NDC, our noble party. He is a poor strategist and should eat humble pie. Muntaka has a wife. Could he not have even travelled with her which would have been understandable but to cause financial loss to the state through his senseless action and still blame NDC or anyone else shows he has no deph of humility and it is shallow mindedness.

How would he explain his travelling on official duties twice with a girlfriend who has no business with sports? Muntaka is having problems with his libido. He has a wife and should be satisfied with that. It is a disgrace to use ones position for self aggrandizement. In speaking point blank, Muntaka has taken us to the dark days of NPP when they travelled with a coterie of girlfriends and wasted our scarce resources. Can he boldly say he is an example to the youth with this action? Its unfortunate we in Ghana carry partisan politics to senseless extreme and his supporters in Asawase in Kumasi who are making noises and blindly supporting foolishness should bow their heads in shame and ask him if it was NDC which asked him to carry his libido on his shoulders?

Why would they vandalize party offices in Kumasi because of a man who is guilty of causing financial loss to the state through promiscuity, because of a man who did not respect our president and even his own office? Let them go into the nitty-gritty of the matter to establish if they are supporting a good cause or foolishness. No one should cry for Muntaka, he knew the consequences of his actions. Let us not lose sight of the fact that government has not in any way cleared him of the allegations. National Security should dig into this matter vividly to establish the truth to serve as a deterrent to others in office. He should be made to face the law of causing financial loss to the state as it is established that he used government resources for his personal libidinous actions. It is not enough to ask him to refund the money. It is corruption and must be dealt with accordingly. It is not enough to be asked to resign and it should not be swept under the carpet .

President Mills should make him face the full rigors of the law if truly indeed he is ready to fight corruption. Party loyalty should not take precedence over the laws of the land. Muntaka should be bold enough to admit his mistake and be humble to apologize to the President, Ghanaians, his NDC party that has brought him this far, his constituency which voted him up there and of course the youth of Ghana that he has let down so badly instead of hiding behind the cloak of being pursued by perceived enemies within his party. It is infantile to say this. He should do well to tame his libido which has let him down. What a sad end to a fairy tale rise.
