During this 70- year-old man Akufo Addo recent visit in the Northern Region he made comments against some of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) executives members in the northern region, which many found offensive. This 70- year -old man Akufo Addo has unequivocally refused to render apologies for his outburst. The essence of his deliberate refusal to apologize to the executive shows his pride, arrogance and disrespect for the entire northern region.
However, this Akufo Addo has for sometime been extremely disrespectful to Ghanaians by referring to them as “you Ghanaians” instead of “We Ghanaians” He went so far as to say to the NPP regional executives that “If he decides to appoint even a goat to represent him in the region it is none of their business”. A goat, instead of human beings? How in the world can such a person expects to lead the organization for whose members he has no respect for? When Yaw Mort, the regional organizer, demanded an apology; this was insult Akufo Addo rendered on them. What a shame!
During the 2008 campaign when Akufo Addo went to the Northern region to campaign, the Adanigate needed some assurances from the NPP candidate, Akufo Addo the 70- year- old man, but his actions rather alienated them to vote against the NPP. So too were the Kusasis in Bawku alienated by his arrogant behavior. This Akufo Addo, the 70-year-old man, has the tendency of taking sides to create conflicts not only in the NPP but also in the entire nation. I ask, what is wrong for a presidential candidate who wanted people to vote for him but in case of his campaign he made some utterances that did not go well with executives.? As a result of that they demand an apology. What is wrong with him apologizing? Because this 70 –year- old man womanizer Akufo Addo believes he is superior then the people from the northern region. Such a person believers that he does not need to apologize to people whom he classifies as an underclass. This shows perfectly that Akufo Addo has no class. He has no qualifications in terms of academic knowledge to lead the NPP for the 2012 general elections. Akufo Addo’s recent actions are a case in point. The NPP needs a candidate who is humble, smart, and intelligent like Alan John Kwadwo Kyerematen who is very submissive. The NPP needs an apologetic individual who sees him self as a servant, not as a boss like this 70 –year- old man Akufo Addo who continues to think that the NPP presidential nomination is his entitlement.
I urge all delegates to the party’s August 7 Congress to rise above any parochial interest and elect a presidential candidate who is best positioned to secure victory for the party in the 2012 elections, a candidate who has respect for Ghanaian and sees himself a servant but not boss,. a candidate like Alan John Kwadwo Kyerematen who comes from the humble beginning and who will represent the interest of the under class, the middle class, the party, and the nation and also treat his fellow citizens with respect and dignity.
