Nana Akuffo Addo, Don't Lose 2016 Presidential Election

The Npp has started its infighting which will soon see the political fortunes of Nana Akuffo Addo to dissipate. The fratricidal infighting have started, it appears that they actually want to be in perpetual opposition. Two news items appeared in the forum yesterday, 04/16/2014 that burst my bubble after the elation of electing party Executives in Tamale. As if we have not divided the party enough during the campaign to elect the Party Executives, an aide to Nana Akuffo Addo did not help matters in Party unity when he should have let Alan Kyeremateng not so divisive statement that "Nana Akufo-Addo’s seeming popularity within the NPP does not make him the best option ahead of 2016." Read "Alan should stand as an independent candidate if... – Akufo-Addo's aide" General News of Wednesday, 16 April 2014

We have a little over two more years to go before the general elections in November 2016 and now is the time to bring the different factions together to achieve our objective of electing Nana Akuffo Addo the President or whoever emerge as the Npp Presidential candidate. We don't need the hotheads Akuffo Addo Aides and family members to tear the party apart now. 2016 is the last chance for Nana Akuffo Addo because of age and we his supporters should realize that Nana Stands to lose more than Alan since he Alan is young and will have his chance even if he doesn't win the Npp nomination in 2016.

Another article by Professor Okoampa taking potshots at Alan Kyeremateng on the same day is not what we need now. The Akyems alone cannot elect a President neither can the Asantes alone. As a matter of fact, the Asantes and Akyems cannot even elect a President as the 2008 and 2012 elections have shown.Politics is a game of numbers and carrying grudges should not be part of any Politician's arsenal especially when you are trying to win the presidency.

Politics is a game of mathematical addition and not subtraction so we don't need articles that will widen the political divide between Alan and Nana supporters. We need both of their supporters and more to win the general elections in 2016 and anybody who thinks otherwise will be deceiving themselves.

Alan still have a lot of followers and we should be building bridges to the city of unity and not bridges to the city of Division. We lost the last election because we allowed our emotions to make decisions instead of our brains and it look like we did not learn our lessons.

We should make it easier for Alan to support Akuffo Addo if he lost. This attitude of some Akuffo supporters should be curtailed. Ashantis and Akyem coalition alone as seen by others cannot win the presidency.

My wish is for Nana Akuffo Addo and Mr Alan Kyeremateng to mount the same podium and caution their supporters to refrain from political insults and emotional outbursts that will scuttle our common aspiration of toppling the non performing Mahamah Ndc administration instead of destroying ourselves.
