Billaw… the marriage institution, I am told predates the creation of modernity. It is one of the many but blessed social institutions in the society. The existence of families owe much credit to the marriage institution. Thus, marriage begets families. The moral behavior of the individual is therefore measured by the influence of one’s family. This underscores the adage, charity begins at home. It is therefore no wonder that every parent will wish for the child to marry a responsible man/woman… and must do it early when the time is ripe. Fantastic!!!
Billaw… What is however interesting but sad enough to note is that, most of these marriages end on rocks even before the day of wedding. Are you surprised? Oh no, don’t be. Like Romeo and Juliet, nothing could stop them from promising to live together on the spur of the moment. The impediment most young men are more likely to face is the scrutiny that they are always subjected to before they may meet the approval of their in-laws. While most families will be happy to know more of the family of which their son/daughter will be married into, the case of the roaming bachelor is totally different and very awkward to state. Outrageous!!!
Billaw… From all indications, it does appear the marriage institution is more corrupt than we are made to believe of the other social institutions. Most of the young men including your very self are frustrated partly because, they are mostly asked questions of their identity, belief systems, social status and or cultural practices of which they have limited answers. Ludicrous!!!
Billaw… the staggering explosive rate of spinsters and bachelors in the country ought to have been a cause of worry to the government similar to the lack of water at the Jubilee house to water flowers. The resultant effects are devastative including but not limited to armed robbery, suicide, prostitution, fornication, you mention them.
