Phoney National Reconciliation In Ghana

Most extra – Judicial killings by some soldiers were committed without the knowledge of Rawlings between 1982 and 1989 under the PNDC regime, yet Rawlings accepted responsibility for those excesses and apologized to those affected to ensure National Reconciliation.
On the other hand, the Danquah/Busia tradition which the NPP represents today flatly refused to accept responsibility for the cowardly bomb outrages through out the country between 1954 and 1963 which killed and maimed hundreds of innocent men, women and children BEFORE independence and AFTER. Frankly speaking, the crimes committed by the Danquah/Busia tradition SURPASSED the combined revolutions of June 4 and 31st December 1981 which were all led by J. J. Rawlings. That was the MAIN REASON why the NPP government FLATLY REFUSED to implement the recommendations of the Parliamentary Select Committee which toured the whole country and came back with a report that majority of the people of Ghana wanted a 1957 commencement year that was the year Ghana became independence from Britain. The Centre for Democratic Development (CDD) organized two foras and they all recommended a 1957 commencement year. The various Houses of Chiefs, the National Union of Ghana Students (NUGS). The Trade Union Congress (T.U.C), the Catholic Bishops Conference, the Christian Council of Ghana and statesmen like Rev. Dr. Mensah Otabil, Rev. Dr. Aboagye Mensah, Mr. K. B. Asante and many other important dignitaries added their voices and recommended the extension of the time frame of the National Reconciliation Bill to March 1957; but because Ex-President Kufour and his NPP government were targeting Rawlings the man they fear most, all those pieces of RICH ADVICE were thrown out by the NPP government led by J. A. Kufour. His brother – in – law, senior Minister J. H. Mensah and the slant speaking Justice Minister Nana Akuffo Addo who stated that if the time frame started from March 1957, it would erode the essence of the Reconciliation exercise, because it is difficult to reconcile the dead and the exercise must involve ONLY the living. They all know what they did during their political fight with the late Dr. Kwame Nkrumah’s CPP government where the city of Kumasi became the killing field of innocent CPP members by the United Party Supporters as well as the town of Kyebi, the hometown of the NPP presidential candidate. When the late Dr. Kwame Nkrumah was finally overthrown in a bloody coup on February 24th 1966, the National Liberation Council military junta banned the CPP with NLC decree 345 for 10 years and it was an offence to posses the mere picture of the late Dr. Kwame Nkrumah. You could be jailed 5 years without the option of a fine. The Progress Party led by Dr. K. A. Busia contested the 1969 general elections against its own shadow and “won” in a landslide because they was NO STRONG OPPONENT to face them since Dr. Busia was campaigning in disguise using the Centre for Civic Education under the NLC regime.

After winning that phoney election, the late Otumfuo Agyeman Prempeh II asked Dr. Busia that now that he was the Prime Minister of Ghana, what was he going to do with Ashanti Federalism? Dr. Busia replied the Asante King that, he has discarded the idea of Federalism of Ashanti, oh-yes this is the Danquah/Busia tradition which the NPP represent today for you. Today, the Danquah/Busia tradition which the NPP represent today now claims that they are the Best Democrats in Africa – this is very shameful. God is still questioning Dr. J. B. Danquah and Dr. Busia to explain the reason why they bombed and killed thousands of innocent men, women and children they suspected of NOT supporting “Matemeho”, only to discard that idea when they FORCED their way to ILLEGAL POWER in 1966 and 1969. Instead of educating Ghanaians about the past evil deeds of the Danquah/Busia tradition which the NPP represent today, most constituency executives including that of Obuasi are rather engaging in Nepotism, greed, backbiting, pull him down tactics, suspicions, lies, deceit and all the negative acts that can break up the NDC party and NOBODY SEEMS TO CARE. You people should sit down there and misbehave – the 2012 general elections are around the corner and we shall all see what happens, because the entire NPP machinery always RUNS FOR COVER WHENEVER THIS WRITER TAKES THEM on because they hate the truth and fear their sordid past.

The Reconciliation Bill was an NPP cabinet agenda against the then NDC minority in parliament, the NDC party and its founder J. J. Rawlings and nothing else. The Bill was passed in parliament without a quorum and yet Ex-President Kufour signed it into law with glee. After the so-called Reconciliation, Ghana is now DIVIDED MORE than ever, so Ex-President Kufour must be charged for causing financial loss to the state as well as his dishonest cabinet members for their short sightedness and disregard to the rich advice of prominent people and public interest.

When I write powerful articles NDC members must bare with me because the situation always demanded it. Ex-President Rawlings must be congratulated for having a large heart. I am done.

MY ENCOUNTER WITH
A HUMAN ARMORY IN ACCRA?

Radicals are the products of Poverty and Discontent and every good government must address these two issues Rather than depriving people of their Fundamental Human Rights. Tribalism, Economic, Hopelessness, Social Injustice and Political oppression have been responsible for the Conflicts or Wars in many countries world wide. It is very necessary to bear these causes in mind while looking for solutions to REGIONAL CONFLICTS.
In some countries including Ghana, some of our MEN IN UNIFORM notably the Military and Police men always mis-use their uniforms to indulge in unlawful activities during Military Regimes. One of the characteristics of the 31st December Revolution was to appoint some Military officers and they PERFORMED SPEICAL DUTIES and REPORTS directly to the PNDC chairman, J.J. Rawlings from 1982-1992. Having been given such positions, some of them started mis-using their powers and one of such official was called JACK BEBLI. He was a NO-NONSENSE military officer whose rank I can not readily tell but he turned himself into a HUMAN ARMORY. An Armory is a strong wide room where Arms and Ammunitions are kept in the army barracks and police stations. Between 1982 and 1992, JACK BEBLI will position his OPERATIONAL SQUAD in the High Streets of Accra, and he could IMPOUND ANY VEHICLE apart from those belonging to PNDC members alone. In those days, you will see JACK BEBLI in full military uniform armed with an AK47 assault rifle, Sub-mancline Guns (SMG’s) assorted pistols, G.3 rifles, Sharpened cutlasses around his waist as well as several bullets stuck in a belt around his waist a set of Binoculars (field glasses) a Motorola, canisters full of Tear gas. Automatic Rifle and what have you-that is why so may cadres described him as a Human Armory in Accra.
When he arrests you for careless driving, he will Dump you in a military guardroom and impound your vehicle and Only God knows the time you will ever be released from that guardroom and your car given to you – no matter your position in society or government. This man turned himself into a Military Policeman. An MTTU man, a Revolutionary High Jacker of Vehicles in Accra between 1982 an 1992 and no one could Touch Him apart from Jerry John Rawlings, the then PNDC Chairman. Any way, all these characters were the excessive ingredients that made the Revolution unpredictable and even sweet when you were given such an appointment. When the late Col. J. Y. Asaase, the former Political Counselor for the Economic Development of C.D.R’s died in Accra, I borrowed a friend’s Toyota carina saloon car and drove to Accra and attended his funeral. I travelled to Accra with the former Commander of the Civil Defense Organisation (C.D.O) in Obuasi one Mr. Francis David Ayomah. After the funeral, I came across Jack Bebli around the Sankara / Circle and this man spoke in some military operational language and gave two warning short for my vehicle to stop, I refused and rather sped away because I had heard A lot about him. He asked his men to get me for him. With the headlamps of their vehicle on and in full speed – they chased me from the Sankara Circle to wards Kwame Nkrumah Circle – I also put my headlamps on while blowing my horn with double trafficators to match and after going round the circle there was a train about to cross near the Odaw Bridge, but before they could close the road, I had crossed over leaving Jack Bebli’s men behind as the train was crossing – I turned right and drove through the “Ghana Times” road towards Kaneshie where I also removed the Actual Registration Number on my vehicle and replaced them with our Operational Numbers that we used in the then Adansi West District Secretariat of C.D.R’s and further pasted the picture of the late J. Y. Asaase on the right windscreen of the saloon car with a similar picture on the back windscreen and hosted the CDR’s flag on the pole of my car. I removed my shirt and put on the CDR T-shirt with dark spectacles to match because I knew that Jack Bebli will send wireless messages to all the police check points in the country for the arrest of my car, because he could liase with the police to impound vehicles from Bolgatanga, Tamale, Wa, Ho, Elubo, Paga and Aflao for him. With those operational numbers that I fixed on my car, nobody could detect it and impound the car I was driving and if you write those operational numbers on my saloon car too, you can NEVER trace it in any licensing office in Ghana and that made the 31st December Revolution very sweet and extremely stable, because with the 64 Battalion behind the Revolution, you Dare Not attempt to Derail it. Jack Bebli is still ALIVE, but I proved to him that if he was a No nonsense Soldier, I was also a No Nonsense Cadre who cleverly slipped out of His long Hands. This is one of the toughest lessons I learnt from the PNDC era. Jack Bebli was the Human Armory in Accra whose performance was GOOD and BAD, but his good sides were more than his bad sides anyway. I hope he will still fight on or hand over to his son and tell his son NEVER to attempt impounding any vehicle from the Obuasi cadres, because if he attempts, he will also fail like his father. Is that clear?
