Presidential Task Force – What Are they Up To Mr President?

By: Fadi Samih Dabbousi

I have had the opportunity of affiliation and acquaintance with general traders, exporters and importers. The bane of shady deals that are commonplace at the Ports is beyond control and beyond acceptance; at least this is the rampant canker that they all complain about. Everyone understands that traders are the backbone of free business in this country and as such it is deemed a catastrophe to have elements in government cowering behind big names only to perpetrate aggression and fraud against them.

Containers with expensive loads, according to some importers, are under dubious circumstances seized and resold without proper or actual auctioneering procedures. It would seem on paper that the right processes and criteria for such seizures are followed and observed with the deserved sacrosanctity but, alas, the cosmetics involved are many-at-times disorganised and found wantonly indecorous.

One disturbing trend is the iniquity of a group calling itself “The Presidential Task Force”. I am mortified, by all means, at the spate of reckless lawlessness perpetrated by the elements within. They wreak havoc on traders and importers as if this country lives by the golden rule of the jungle, “Survival of the fittest”.
Mr President, with all due respect, IS THIS A TRUE SET UP? DO YOU KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT THIS GROUP?
Tit-bits of information that we have been gathering indicate that officers of this group have persistently attacked importers with “juicy” loads many of whom have retaliated and fought back tooth and nail, also pulling strings here and there, to obtain releases for their goods. It is much akin fighting for survival between the deadly jaws of a shark. WHY?
So is political POWER about disturbing the peace and harassing innocent people for the little that they can manage to put in their mouths and those of their families? What is it that has spiralled out of control that anyone wanting to GRAB would just group a few hoodlums and attach the name of an important and feared personality to disturb Ghanaians, and foreigners alike, who just want to LIVE in light of the acute difficulties that the general conditions in the country are associated with?
My goodness, Mr President, check these people out because they are operating heartlessly as if amassing wealth is a “do and die” affair. It may be true that a Presidential Task Force does exist but one to perpetrate acts of heinousness against the citizenry and their foreign guests, I doubt you would even stoop that low, Sir. It is too far-fetched!
You are The President of our country, irrespective of political opinion, and you must inquire into the activities of this wicked group. Finally, I just want to bring your memory back to medieval Europe, as we were thought in school, when the wickedness of the elite brought about much suffering on the masses that an implosion occurred and people stood up to say in unison, “ENOUGH IS ENOUGH”!!!
Please, heed my appeal and look into this, Mr President, John Dramani Mahama, and bring all these people to book.
