The Contradictory Dr. McHypocrite

By Kwame Okoampa-Ahoofe, Jr., Ph.D.

I finally mustered the intestinal fortitude, as it were, to read and digest the epistolary pabulum composed and "openly" dispatched by the South Carolinian-based Dr. McHypocrite to Mr. Jake Obetsebi-Lamptey, chairman of Ghana's main opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP). As a resident, or perhaps even a naturalized citizen, here in the United States of America himself, I dare the patently and unabashedly self-righteous critic of the so-called OPEN LETTER TO NPP NATIONAL CHAIRMAN to try his venomous ideological treachery with one of the two major political parties in this country and see how far he would be able to get away with the same.

Anyway, what intrigued me more than anything else, is the apparent belief by Dr. McHypocrite that he has an inviolable right to talk down to the leading members of the New Patriotic Party who find the deliberately insidious rhetorical affront of Tarzan to be inexcusably offensive and downright insufferable, merely because Dr. McHypocrite has invested quite a bit of his personal "treasure" into building and strengthening of the party.

As to how significant such "treasure" is, compared to the ultimate sacrifice paid by the giant likes of Messrs. J. B. Danquah and E. Obetsebi-Lamptey, for ready examples, the stentorian and grandstanding critic does not say, except to cavalierly observe in passing that more than ideology, it was the yeomanly contribution of men like Prof. Adu A. Boahen, of blessed memory, and Mr. Sam Okudzeto that both inspired and rallied Dr. McHypocrite into the fold of the party of Danquah, Busia and Dombo.

This is hardly surprising, being that I have already critically observed that whatever motivated Messrs. McNasty (aka Tarzan) and McHypocrite to join the executive ranks of the New Patriotic Party could not have impeccably been underlain by ideological principles but sheer expediency. The man also has the chutzpah to impugn the intelligence of the top executive members of the NPP for frivolously handpicking and crowning Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, whom Dr. McHypocrite rather invidiously describes as a "new person" on the Ghanaian political landscape, as the second most powerful executive officer of the NPP.

The stark implication here, of course, is that any party leadership that makes such patently "flagrant" choice of Dr. Bawumia as its second most powerful executive officer has absolutely no right to question the viciously calcaulated decision of Dr. McNasty to run its political machinery aground! Folks, this is what Dr. McHypocrite means by his shamelessly disingenuous accusations of "extremism," "intolerance" and "paranoia" against the NPP leadership.

Indeed, it is rather unfortunate that the clinically and pathologically devious Dr. McHypocrite would tarry until the glorious, albeit situationally untimely, passing of Mr. Joe Da Rocha before presuming to rudely and crudely rob the quite urbane old man's face into his rhetorical scatology. I am quite certain that Mr. Da Rocha would not have hesitated a split-second to put Dr. McHypocrite in his rightful place!

But that the critic clearly appears to find the mere mention of the name of Nana Akufo-Addo - he disdainfully and sarcastically chooses to call the two-time NPP flagbearer "The Candidate" - to be insufferably abominable, ought to eloquently inform his audience precisely what Dr. McHypocrite means by his recurrent allusion to "tolerance."

We shall, of course, be dealing with aspects of the slyly calculated agenda of these veritable Quislings to destroying a party to whose longstanding ideological principles and tenets they have contributed zilch, as may be deemed pertinent and seasonable.
