Having an outstanding record of 57years of democratic practice, the wish of most African nations, the gate way to Africa and the beacon of hope in Africa, we must consider ourselves very much proud to be Ghanaians. Ghana despite its numerous challenges has an economy regarded as one of the fastest growing in the world, the country has strived to achieve a lower middle income status and with the discovery of oil in large quantities we envisage a more comfortable life for our countrymen and women. A country with an undefined existence of peace and tranquility, the peaceful nature of this country is much envied across the world. With well structured state and private institutions citizens go about their daily activities without fear for their lives or property with hopes of making the best of everyday, just like any other country in the world, the total security of members cannot be 100% assured but with well equipped and train security services, ones safety and security needs are no unsolvable puzzles in Ghana.
With such backdrop of success and potential prosperity for all, the country is faced with this pending court case. To some of us we see no startling circumstance due to the high regards we accrue to our state institutions hence consider this whole process as one of the numerous stages this country has passed through. It’s sad that some others unlike us as the adage goes ‘have taken the whole thing world cup” their show of passion and enthusiasm for the outcome of this petition is what is causing this fear and panic throughout the boundaries of this country.
We must remember, Ghanaians are peace fanatics, and Ghana is far bigger than any individual, group of individuals or party hence a clarion call to all citizens, it’s just one Ghana we have so damn the politicians who have their children abroad, damn the politicians who already have their passports or can get them within two days, damn the politicians who’s visas await their signature, damn the politicians who are spending our moneys and have foreign accounts, damn the Politian you are following who has amassed enough state funds for his family. Let us be wise comrades, let us think about the future, what future do we seek for mother Ghana. What would posterity say about us-that peaceful generation that respected mother Ghana? Or that bunch of selfish folks who never cared the result of their actions?
Fellow Ghanaians, the time is now, let’s prove to the world that yes indeed we are a peaceful nation, that yes indeed we are the gate way to Africa, that indeed Ghana is the only country we have, lets justify the 57years of respecting the rule of law. Lets stand for peace. The future from today you have a role to play.
