The NPP Nonsense

Recent news reports say that NPP has broken into Kyerematen faction and Akufo Addo faction and that both Mr. Kyerematen and Mr. Bawumia are positioning themselves for a run in the next election. If this is true, then why is the Supreme Court still dealing with the law suit over the last election?

Though it will be an indication that the NPP has put the election behind them, it is understandable that Mr. Kyerematen will position himself for the next election, but Mr. Bawumia cannot be a pink slip expert crying foul and looking for redress in the courts and be gearing up for a run in the next election at the same time. If he is actually doing this, then he has accepted that he is not going to be a Vice President and if he has Akufo Addo's blessing then Akufo Addo couldn't be waiting to be President. They should then spare the country and withdraw the petition in the court. I am sure it is not too late.

I will say here as I have said before that I am neither NPP nor NDC, but I fear that the demise of NPP will doom Ghana to a one party state and in a previous article in Ghanaweb, I have discuss this fear. I have also suggested a way forward for NPP. Rather than in-fighting and catering to their individual ambitions, I think these members of the NPP should put their party and the country ahead of their ambitions and get together and dream up ways to move the whole party forward.

I have said before that Mr. Akufo Addo may not become President, but he can become a Statesman. He should make a true and honest statement on this issue of jockeying for position in the party and be a bigger man of the party and bring everyone together for the sake of his party. Good luck to them.
