The Upper West Regional Hospital Under Reign Of Terror- Part 2

The embattled Regional administrator of the Upper West Regional hospital is yet to answer some questions bordering the awards of some contracts in the hospital. For those who do not know the hospital administrator, he was a dangerous bully at the then Lawra Secondary School, where he did his sixth form course. He once before the disciplinary committee of the school slapped a student and got very angry before the masters who constituted the panel of the committee. They were all stupefied and perplexed beyond human endurance. Such is the nature of the man at the centre of the controversy involving his manhandling of the fifty five year old nurse at the regional hospital.
But this is just beside the point, the reason why I want to add my voice to the clarion call to re-engage the hospital administrator elsewhere for him to conform to human civility is the fact that his brutalities started at the Nadowli district hospital when he was fresh from school as a hospital administrator. He terrorized the nurses there especially the ward nurses and the regional directorate thought wrongly that if they transferred him to the regional hospital he would changed from his bad ways by repenting. That was never to be. He rather intensified his negative brutalities against female nurses. A careful study of his activity shows that he deliberately avoided any attack to any male nurse, for fear that they may not be easy to handle, and so his activities are geared towards our mothers who are toiling day and night to ensure that patients are well catered for. For all you may know, the hospital administrator is not acting in isolation. There is one man by name Eric Dakurah, who spots ‘jelly curls hair’ and his always in the company of the hospital administrator and many believe he is the mentor behind all the attacks. He works directly under him at the hospital. Those of us from the Nadowli district have been following the exploits of the hospital administrator with keen interest and I can tell you that if pragmatic steps are not taken to ensure that the hospital administrator conforms to norms and civility; all efforts will come to naught.
I write this piece as a concerned citizen of the Upper West Region who knows very well the hospital administrator and what he is capable of doing. I want to appeal to the regional coordinating council under the able leadership of the regional minister, Alhaji Issahaku Salia and other well meaning people in the region to sit up and call a spade a spade so that other workers in the regional hospital will have peace of mind to go about their business.
The regional hospital administrator has gone out of his way to recruit a so called public relations officer. This PRO is a wala man who is barely literate and our understanding is that this PRO has an element of sexual misconduct hanging around him. This man who has no formal training in the art of PR does practically nothing in the hospital. He is always spotted at the hospital with a bell on his hand and chasing visitors around when visiting hours are over. What we are hearing is that there is an arrangement in place which involves him sharing his ‘salary’ with the hospital administrator. We are outsiders and we are privy to this kinds of information, all am asking for is nothing short of an enquiry into the matter for the dust on this issue and other issues raised in this treatise to settle for the good people of the region to know how the tax payers’ money is being expended by crooks like Roger Galle and his ‘jelly curled haired friend’, Eric Dakura.
One thing people should know is that contractors are also suffering at the hands of the hospital administrator. He awards most of the hospital’s contracts to himself and if it is difficult to do it himself, then some people will come forward to front for him. And that is in bad taste. The other day he was on radio saying that he does not do any contract job, he does not know how contracts are done since there is a procurement committee in place, which is a sham one of course because he controls that, then I said Lord Jesus forgive this woman basher for the public lies he sat in the studios peddling. He is a pathological liar if he says that he does not do contract jobs, am prepared to testify before any commission of enquiry to prove that the hospital administrator is involved in double dealing of executing contract jobs for the hospital and drawing salary from the consolidated funds of Ghana government. The problem of conflict of interest arises. If he does the contract jobs and they are not well executed, who then corrects the mistake? The hospital administrator or who? Let us sit down and do the right thing. In an era the government is calling for ‘A Better Ghana Agenda’, some misguided elements in the system like the hospital administrator and Eric Dakura are trying to spoil the broth for the government.
The regional executives of the NDC and the regional minister must not sit unconcerned to allow these goons (Roger Galle and Eric Dakura) who have no trace of human civility be allowed to put spokes into the wheel of the government efforts. This matter of the contract they award to themselves, calls for thorough probe and investigation for the people to know the truth of the matter. If a sick mind like Roger and his cohorts, Eric Dakura are not taken to task, then we live in a world which is not guided by any law, norm or convention. That should not be the case. That I do not support at all.
Iam concluding, but I want to warn that in Dagaare, we say that if you kill a snake and you do not cut the head, you have done nothing. Mere reprimand will not solve the problem at the Upper West Regional hospital. The regional health directorate must step up efforts to correct the albatross problem of females nurse bashing at the regional hospital hanging on our necks and make it a thing of the past. As I write, I can assure you that the regional hospital parking lot is going to be privatized by the hospital administrator and his friend Eric Dakura; my fear is that he may end up giving it to himself or somebody closer to him may front for him. This must be watched carefully.
