The pride of Sandema is at risk

There is a scene of beautiful trees with fresh air and hope that greets you when entering Sandema, my village.

I understand plans are underway and far advanced to cut down these beautiful Mahogany trees-the pride of Sandema-that appears to be older than the village itself.

About 99.99 % of the people in this village walk under the shade of this Mahogany trees to the village center, including school children, pregnant women, and elderly men and women. Also, apart from the medicinal properties of these trees, they are habitats for many species of birds.

Why would any reasonable person or group of persons want to cut down this beautiful mahogany trees for the sake of opening up a road that does not have traffic and may never have traffic, besides, the benefits of these trees is beyond the people of Sandema.

Please for the love of God, nature, and humanity, do not cut these trees down for a road that may not even last a decade.

I am humbly appealing to the President of the Republic of Ghana, H.E Nana Addo Dankwah Akufo-Addo and all and sundry to help put a stop this madness.
