A gift is any natural ability or capacity or endowment that God has deposited in everyone. It may include but not limited to singing, playing of musical instrument, playing football or any other sports, writing, creative abilities, comedy, etc.
God has endowed everyone with a unique talent or gift but the challenge with many is the ability to discover it and use it to serve their interest, that of other, their nation and the world at large.
There are others who have an idea of what they carry in terms of gift or talent but because they do not recognize and appreciate it, it loses its value in their eyes. There is a law called ‘‘the law of recognition’’ which states that, ‘‘everything you need in your life is already in your life awaiting your recognition of it’’.
Anything unrecognized becomes uncelebrated, anything unrecognized becomes unrewarded and anything unrecognized eventually exits your life. So it may appear to such people that they don’t have a gift but that not the case, they have only failed to recognize and appreciate their gift.
As the quickest way to lead is to serve, so the easiest way to add value to your gift is to trade it for free. Sometimes we thing about the hours and sacrifices we put into nurturing our gift or talents, we are tempted to charge something appreciable before we display it to our audience.
But that notwithstanding, trading your gift for free is the easiest way to receive feedback from your product or service and to repackage it in a way that will appeal to your niche market or target audience.
I have met a lot of gifted and talented people who are on the verge of giving up on their dreams because they are not given what they believe they are worth whenever they are called to display their talent or when the service of their unique gift is needed. We must understand that no matter how talented you are, you cannot demand unless you are in demand.
And so trade your gift for free, build capacity, enhance your brand until people begin to make demand for your talent. Don’t just give up on your gift; package it, display it and serve it for free until it attracts a fee.
