Why Tarzan's Call On Karbo Is Absolutely Ludicrous

By Kwame Okoampa-Ahoofe, Jr., Ph.D.

He has rather laughably predicated his refusal to meet with the Disciplinary Committee of the main opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), for the exaction of further sanctions, if necessary, on grounds that former Attorney-General Ayikoi-Otoo, who is also a member of the Committee, has supposedly made public statements which Dr. Charles Wereko-Brobbey clearly deems to be prejudicial to the yet-to-be pronounced verdict of the NPP's Disciplinary Committee.

The fact of the matter, though, is that the alleged misdeed(s) for which the former CEO of the Volta River Authority is being summonsed by the NPP's Disciplinary Committee is/(are) already in the public domain; and likewise are also the reasons for which Tarzan is being invited to appear before the aforementioned committee. And so, really, there are no violations of any procedural technicalities to speak of in this instance.

Then also, the decision by the NPP's National Executive Council to suspend Dr. Wereko-Brobbey does not, in any way, carry the legal weight of, say, the Akufo-Addo/NPP's Election 2012 presidential petition. And so, yes, Dr. Wereko-Brobbey has every right to feel his own self-importance; but he has absolutely no right to expect other citizens and NPP faithful to envisage matters his way.

Now if it is true, as Tarzan is claiming, that Mr. Anthony Karbo, the former NPP National Youth Organizer, massed up a posse of party youths with the express intent of doing mayhem, or bodily harm, to Dr. Wereko-Brobbey, then, of course, the alleged suspect of such attempted mayhem ought to be promptly brought to book by the NPP's Disciplinary Committee (See "Sack Anthony Karbo - Tarzan" Peacefmonline.com/Ghanaweb.com 6/19/13).

The problem that we clearly have here is that since the purported target of such intended attack has emphatically and publicly indicated that he has absolutely no respect for and confidence in the political and functional legitimacy of the NPP's Disciplinary Committee, Dr. Wereko-Brobbey cannot expect, in any way, to eat his proverbial cake and have it too. And I would be unpleasantly surprised if the NPP's Disciplinary Committee took Tarzan's obviously face-saving complaint against Mr. Karbo with any modicum of gravitas.

On the other hand, one cannot but look forward to hearing the NPP's Disciplinary Committee vote overwhelmingly, in the offing, to show Dr. Wereko-Brobbey the exit out of the NPP, his so-called founding membership notwithstanding.
