Work to be done, not an office to occupy

Acting IGP, COP George Akuffo Dampare Acting IGP, COP George Akuffo Dampare

Dear COP George Akuffo Dampare,

Congratulations on your appointment as the Inspector General of Police (IGP).

Many clamoured for you to be appointed as the IGP in the recent past, but the good Lord had His own beautiful plans. To say you deserve it would be an understatement.

You have painstakingly worked your socks off to attain this status. You are one of the finest officers who has shown beyond reasonable doubt that the Ghana Police still has something good to offer.

As you have taken over from your predecessor who battered the image of the service with his utterances in his last days in office, may your elevation cleanse the already blotted image of the service.

Kindly purge the service of all miscreants who would derail your efforts at making the Ghana Police an effective and efficient institution.

Also, carry out your duties as the ethics of the profession demand. Do not allow politicians to dictate to you as to how to do your work though it would be extremely difficult looking at the structure of the service.

Be wary of sycophants who want to be in your good books in order to gain unfettered favours. If you allow them to sweet talk you, you would end up being the worst IGP ever.

Finally, let the security of the state and that of your men be your topmost priority. We have all witnessed recently how some of your men have been murdered in cold blood.

Kindly work on tooling the service which will aid your men in carrying out their duties without any modicum of fear.

I wish you well and pray that, under your reign or leadership, Ghana would be a safe haven.

Ayekoo!!
