The Wa Municipal Hospital has directed 19 staff members to refund various sums of money, ranging from GH¢4 to GH¢286, after a disciplinary committee found them guilty of illegally charging patients.

The staff were involved in selling non-drug medical items and demanding unauthorized fees, particularly in the maternity ward.

The hospital's administrator, Sampson Abu, confirmed the decision after multiple complaints of extortion and misconduct.

In addition to the refunds, the affected staff may face changes in work schedules and other penalties as per the Ghana Health Service's code of conduct.
