Allocate 5% of oil revenue into health – GRNMA

The Ghana Registered Nurses and Midwives Association (GRNMA) is calling for the government to allocate 5% of oil revenue to the health sector to address critical gaps in healthcare, including disease management, personnel retention, and infrastructure improvement.

Dr. David Tenkorang Twum, GRNMA President, stressed the urgent need for this funding to prevent a healthcare crisis. He also advocated maintaining nursing training allowances, highlighting that student nurses handle 40% of nurses' workload.

Additionally, Dr. Kwame Sarpong Asiedu from the Center for Democratic Development urged the government to adhere to the Abuja declaration, investing 15% of revenue in health.
