The Ghana Health Service (GHS) has commenced a nationwide COVID-19 vaccination campaign on July 3, 2024, aiming to deliver at least 500,000 doses to individuals aged 18 and above.

Vaccination teams will operate from hospitals, clinics, and health centers, and will also go door-to-door, visiting markets, churches, mosques, and workplaces to ensure accessibility.

Dr. Patrick Kuma-Aboagye, the Director-General, emphasized the need to protect vulnerable groups, including children under 15 who are ineligible for vaccination, through herd immunity.

As of June 28, 2024, Ghana had administered over 29 million doses, with 56% of the target population completing their primary series.
