Closure of renal unit at Cape Coast Teaching Hospital leaves patients worried

Kidney patients at the Cape Coast Teaching Hospital's Renal Unit are frustrated due to the unit's sudden closure for routine maintenance.

Patients are uncertain about their ongoing treatment and are forced to seek alternative options in Takoradi or Accra at a higher cost.

This comes despite the National Health Insurance Scheme's announcement of a six-month free dialysis support program for renal patients.

However, some patients at Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital in Kumasi claimed they have yet to benefit from the program and are still being made to pay for dialysis sessions.
