A three-month delay in delivering crucial blood clotting components has left some children with hemophilia bedridden and in severe pain.
Parents, particularly mothers, are expressing grave concerns as the delay, caused by the Food and Drugs Authority's (FDA) withholding of importation documents, prevents the arrival of donor-sponsored medication.
Hemophilia, a rare disorder where blood doesn’t clot properly, can result in prolonged bleeding and requires timely treatment with Factor VIII and IX concentrates.
The Ghana Hemophilia Society warns that further delays could lead to preventable deaths, urging immediate intervention from authorities.
