The Ghana Health Service (GHS) has confirmed a monkeypox case involving a 15-year-old male in the Bia West District of the Western North Region.
The patient reported to a district hospital on September 25, 2024, with symptoms including fever, body pains, sore throat, and a rash.
The GHS is monitoring 25 identified contacts and has noted 230 suspected cases across 88 districts in Ghana.
A public health investigation is underway, and the World Health Organization (WHO) has been notified.
The public is urged to remain vigilant and follow health guidelines to prevent the spread of the virus.
