The National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) of Ghana projects achieving universal health coverage before 2030.
NHIA CEO Dr. Da-Costa Aboagye highlighted new measures, including a preventive healthcare initiative allowing NHIS members to receive annual medical check-ups on their birthdays. This aims to reduce curative service costs and detect diseases early, increasing life expectancy.
Dr. Aboagye emphasized addressing co-payment issues and integrating the government e-pharmacy platform to ensure medicine availability and fair pricing.
The NHIA is also seeking parliamentary approval for automatic price adjustments to maintain accurate tariffs and improve overall healthcare delivery.
