Gov’t should have engaged health facilities before announcing free renal treatment – MP

Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare, a Member of Parliament's Health Committee, has criticized the government's announcement of free dialysis treatment for renal patients, stating that it was poorly prepared and lacked engagement with health facilities.

She argued that this has led to confusion and patients still paying for treatment.

She suggested that the government should have liaised with health facilities to develop a plan before making the announcement.

Additionally, she proposed directing the COVID-19 fund towards healthcare delivery, including funding the National Health Insurance Authority, to support renal patients.
